Well, wasn't that just amazing! How lucky are we to have been able to watch this, and isn't he just a little cutie?

I had hoped that life would return to normal once he was born but no - I am now baby watching instead of butt watching lol.

Thanks for the thread Joy, It was good to share this wonderful event :-)

My profile picture was taken by me last summer when we were feeding the giraffes at our local wildlife park. We did a mini(scule) safari into their enclosure and I loved it. Hope to do it again this summer :-)

I popped in after 11pm last night.

Litlle Billy Bandy Knee's was hop, skipping and jumping about like a little spring lamb..At one point, he was just stood still looking up at Dad.

He has been licked that much, it's a wonder he has any markings left! :-D

There were some tender moments between Mum and Dad......rubbing their heads, noses and necks together.

Obviously there is a reason why Dad isn't allowed in the enclosure....but i felt a bit sorry for him, he so wanted to be a part of it.

Looking in this morning........No Billy!! :-0

Then i saw a little head move in the shadow. Phew!! :-D

PH what a good Mum April is
Your right Little Billy Bandy knees
must be the cleanest Baby Giraffe in the world

Oliver isn't Let near the baby as Bulls charge around
and may hurt the baby
April was bottle fed so used to Human company
That makes her very soft hearted
All Oliver would want to do is mate with April again
and if the baby got in the way and accidents may happen

Mind April did try to kick the Vet Tim twice yesterday :-D :-D

Lyndi

Lyndi Report 16 Apr 2017 14:11

Did you see them weigh the baby? Jordan weighed himself on bathroom scales, then Dr Tim passed him the baby :-0

The baby was very well behaved, but poor April was very cross as she had been coaxed in to Oliver's pen (he was outside) with a treat, the shut in there!! :-0

When they let April back with her baby they made a very hasty retreat :-D

Baby is full of it, running around on his 'Bambi' legs. <3

HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. (CBS4) – The Animal Adventure Park posted Monday afternoon that the cam for April the giraffe and her baby will need to be pulled.
“April had a small twist of her leg today, which has her favoring it,” the park posted on Facebook in response to a flood of messages they’ve received asking about her. “We appreciate [the] concern but the bogging down of email servers and other platforms is the exact reason the giraffe cam will need to be pulled.” We are well aware, long before the first email that April had a small twist of her leg today which has her favoring it. This is not unheard of in such long legged animals. Dr Tim was on site and all is well.
We appreciate concern but the bogging down of email servers and other platforms is the exact reason the giraffe cam will need be pulled.
While we appreciate the concern, it is interfering with normal park operations and preparation for opening; at a period when our resource of time is limited and cannot be hindered. Please allow our team to do as they are trained to do - we have their care covered!

CBS4 pulled out last night, but no great surprise. I was watching the chat and people were saying about how April had injured her leg and they were going to email in about it. There was arguing and name calling (just a typical chat room - for school kids).

When Jordon posted the update you have in your post above some the replies were awful. People didn't like that they had been 'scolded'!! If that had been me I would have pulled the plug instantly!

CBS just decided not to hang around and announced 15 minutes before the end of a live feed that the next one would be their last. Think they were just fed up with what was going on in chat.

Right from when I first watched they said they were going to stop live cam when baby was about 5 days or so old, I think what has thrown them has been the delay in the arrival which has left them very close to opening date,

So many are moaning about the things that are being charged for, but nobody is forced to pay anything, and we have all had the opportunity to watch all this for nothing.

If he has any sense he will not do it again lol. He did say in one interview he didn't think the world had enough patience for another birth on live cam.
