I have only seen one place round here that has even mentioned it. A local village hall was decked with flags yesterday advertising the St Georges day march.
Is there anything in your area?

Our local town celebrated on Friday with school children parading through the streets. The council usually decorates the main shopping area with St George's pennants. I think there's normally Street entertainment on the closest Saturday.
The town centre is in the parish of St George.

Last weekend there was a parade to celebrate one of the Sikh festivals. The 'Diversity Officer' does try to be even handed ;-)

Quite a lot going on here as well, mostly geared to children and young families.

Every so often there will be a small campaign in East Anglia to get St George replaced by St Edmund who was our patron saint until Richard 1 adopted St George on one of his crusades.

I don't think it will ever happen; St George is too well known throughout England but I would quite like to see St Edmund reinstated. At least he lived and died in England and fought to save his bit of England from various invading forces. It's thought that St George never set foot here.

Vive St Edmund! Have a good day everyone.

St George is also patron Saint of Catalonia where today is the day of the rose and has a similar effect on the takings of florists and restaurants to 14 Feb. Maybe we should do the same.

As patron Saint of Georgia St George failed to save them from the Russians. will he save the 52% from Brussels?

Actually the Russian follow St George too, as do many many different people.

No sign of anything in the North East of England.

As a Scot I'm sure I would have noticed.

Happy St George's Day to everyone.

Our village has flags on a lot of the little shops on the main road. There is a large flag flying in the churchyard and also in the Community Centre where an afternoon tea dance is taking place and a St George Concert is to be held later this evening..... all very traditional and welcomed by all here.
