No-one's offered to take mine out :-|

Oh - that'll be because I live on my own :-D

OMG - maybe I'm a man!!!

No, I can't be, I cook, wash, and iron.
Oh - but I decorate, put flat packs up, make shelving units, turn the mattress, make the fire, bring the coal in.

I'm sooo confused :-S

Do you know what, I'm just a human being :-D :-D :-D

Hubby used to do it with my input till he could no longer

Must admit its a chore now for me that i have to get my up and go to do it

when its brown bin garden waste week I struggle in does it need it this week cos its a job getting it out of the garden

dont have much garden waste but it does take kitchen waste too in the disposable bags

problem too is that i dont make that much as on my own BUT need to keep a look on the bin as it can develope maggots when the temperature rises . they seem to come overnight .

so not something i can say no problem too as i do find it a chore

Some of my family have girls and boys jobs

Pathetic - what sort of message does it send out to young people :-0 :-0

Personally I'd rather build a wall or decorate than do housework ;-) ;-) ;-)

I'd be more than happy to hand over some of the chores I don't like to someone more capable of them ( cooking and ironing especially) but I still like putting rubbish out, I find it quite therapeutic :-)

My sister refers to blue jobs and pink jobs but in reality she does absolutely nothing, unsurprisingly her relationships don't last long.

Since his marriage, over 40 years ago, my brother has always done the washing, ironing, and more often than not, the cooking.

Why?

Because he's better at it than my sister in law!! :-D :-D :-D

Oh, and their two (adult) sons, are perfectly capable of doing the same things - they're just chores that need doing, not 'male' or 'female' jobs.

When one of my nephews got married, his wife couldn't believe her luck!! :-D

My husband and I work on the theory that if one of us cannot do jobs the other one can and regardless of what colour that job is.

In our house it depends on who gets to the bins first to either take out our bring back in. However I always do the messy food bin, it takes too long for OH to sort out what he is doing with it.he however always does the ironing and hoovers the floors, often empties the dish washer on his own although we usually empty it together. He also helps strip and remake the bed. But he rarely cooks. Always helps with the shopping and always cleans the cars. I generally do the washing but he can do it.

as the only male in my house is my cat, it's up to me to do the bins - just done them - the recycling bags, the food bin and the general waste bin!!

Whoever is available...so mostly me.....for the bins...the grass cutting...washing etc....he does do the plumbing and general fixing because he's better at it than me.

Its usually my job, simply because I know when 'dustbin day' is and he never even thinks about it.
I also used to do it in the bad old days of bin bags unless it was within a couple of weeks of giving birth.

We were discussing boys & girls jobs today. I 'don't do' cleaning the car, plumbing or carpentry. He 'doesn't do' ironing, garden plants, mending clothes, washing or dusting. Virtually eveything else gets done when we each think it needs doing. Its a good thing we both have a high tolerance level ;-)

OH puts the bins out, and brings them in.

BUT he also does 95% of the cooking, the grocery shopping, the washing, and changes the sheets and duvet covers.

I write out the grocery list ......... he's hopeless at that!

Whoever feels up to it, does house cleaning ............... at the moment I'm cleaning the inside windows, 1 room per day

We have someone cut the grass, but he does all the rest of the gardening because he enjoys it.

Hubby used to do his self appointed job of being dishwasher monitor. Apparently I didn't load the machine up correctly .No probs be my guest !!

We had it on a wash overnight and he set that up too and unloaded it the next day

It's only a slimline dishwasher as we don't have a lot of space but quite adequate for two . The only thing was if there was too many plates etc at some time it would sit on the side which I hated . But he did do a manual wash up of things that didn't go in the dishwasher

He was a shift worker too and as I also worked full time he had to look after himself with cooking his own dinner.
He was an excellent cook , his casseroles were delicious . He always made the Christmas mince pies too ,no shop bought ones for us . His pastry was beautiful

But then his dad was a chef and his mum a silver service waitress and they were taught cooking at home .

All work can be men's work as far as I'm concerned. It wouldn't bother me at all as long as they didn't think it was THIS woman's work. :-D

I think that when the chance offers paid employment opportunities should be extended to those looking for them. Duties can extend to all sorts of things inc the English bin ceremonies.

Caroline

Caroline Report 12 May 2017 10:37

LOL the English bin ceremonies......does no one else put out their bins then or is it only the English who don't tell their husband to do it ! :-D
