Got rid of Norton on all our home computers many years ago because it slowed them down so much they were unusable.

MS or M$ is Microsoft.
Vista out of the box has a firewall and av software "Defender".
Both of these must be deactivated for Norton360 to work properly.

Norton 360 was quite the lad for upsetting other programs and used to throw a major tantrum if removed as internet access vanished all together. Usual fix was reinstall OS from scratch. That is why support staff came to hate Norton.

Vista is no longer supported - Microsoft, Google Chrome, Dropbox and more have put up the shutters. Firefox will do so this year. So it is time to say goodbye to Vista and N360.

Assuming that you want to keep yr box then best option is to get Windows 7 off eBay. It will set you back £ 30-40. Dell or HP versions will work fine. The current version of Norton works well.

Nb back up yr data as win7 will reformat yr hard drive.

For some reason when doing updates Windows has blocked my access to my Norton protection. What can I do about it. I know a lot of you don't like Norton but it's all I have been used to.

Any help appreciated
