Unwise investments by some of their financial advisors :-(

Banks have miniscule amounts of cash nearly all their assets are debt of various quality from gilts through to mortgages and dodgy car loans. When you open a current account and credit the account you are lending the bank money although you may not see it that way. When a bank defaults you find out.

I guess you flunked Economics 101 as you seem not to understand Eldrick's succint posts.

Btw "cash" is just government debt otherwise known as scrip. Read a banknote some time. If Mayhem & Co screw up brexit negotiation you might get a practical lesson in the difference between scrip and real money such as gold sovereigns.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 22 May 2017 19:32

How is that?

David

David Report 22 May 2017 19:21

Recent years have shown that banks are not the safest place to put your cash.

I'll buy you all the shoes you want if Clarks will take bags of salt and shiny beads?

In this life one thing counts
In the bank large amounts
Charity's fine subscribe to mine
Get out and hack a computer or two

Take a tip from Bill Sikes
He can whip what he likes
I recall he started small
He had to pick a pocket or two

Wise owl 1 to wise owl 2
"What is the wisest thing you ever said?"
Wise owl 2
"I'll take it all in cash"

Currency might better describe cash money or perhaps they're the same thing ?

Yes Eldrick, you quoted the bible, guess there's a first time for everything! ;-)

If anybody would like to try to live the good life please feel free to send me your "spare cash" I'll make sure it's used wisely....NOT!
Why do beggars always ask for spare cash....Duh...it's not spare be honest just ask for money.

Yeah, probably. I was reading about an alien abduction on the internet the other day. Good stuff :) As Winston Churchill once posted on a thread on here - 'You can't believe everything you see on the internet'. Profound stuff.

I liked The Good Life. Felicity Kendall was rather cute back then :)

The Good Life made a good TV comedy years ago.

I obviously don't know the difference between capitalism and cash :-(

The content of her purse is no doubt speculative, something I read on the internet.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 22 May 2017 16:50

No, your *description* is capitalism. Not cash. Cash is cash. You aren't talking about kind - you are talking about cash.

lol - really - what's in the Queens purse? What in the creation of the earth has that got to do with anything? There's more than that in my wallet right now and that's not in the papers! I can't see the relevance of that little gem of trivia to anything other than a gross invasion of the privacy of the Queen and which is more than likely totally fabricated. Like HRH is going to tell someone what she carries round with her. Really? hahahaha

I can't honestly see your point :) If you don't like cash, don't use it. No one is forcing you to live within the system, opt out and enjoy the freedom you will have to grow your own food, swap it for clothes, pay the mortgage or rent in bales of hay and make your own wine from nettles. Sounds good to me :) :) :)

Capitalism is it ? even communists and fascists use cash or kind.

I read recently that in the purse of ERII is a brush, a mirror, a lip stick

............and a £20 note for the offering plate in church

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 22 May 2017 15:50

Arrghhhh....did I just quote the bible! That's a first for me.

Still, it sort of explains a lot about the CoE and the Vatican I suppose :) :) :)

The origin of the 'old saying':

1 Timothy 6:10King James Version (KJV)

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Dermot

Dermot Report 22 May 2017 13:55

'Money means a lot to me particularly when I don’t have much'.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 22 May 2017 13:52

A New York researcher taught some monkeys how to use money.
Top buy was sex.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 22 May 2017 13:29

Any society that owns property of any sort has to have a form of exchange.

It's not money that is the cause, it's the love of money that is the problem, to paraphrase the old saying. It's only a problem if you let it be one.

David

David Report 22 May 2017 12:30

No, not off hand

This cash, it causes debt
It encourages most forms of illegality

And you can't get far without it :-(
