	Speaking of avalanches, Lewes had the UK's worst one in 1836. As far as height goes, it is safer for sea floods and coastal erosion but for surface water flooding it depends more on whether you are higher than your neighbours.

	Technically we are in a flood plain area.................. but only when it suits the authorities and that doesn't stop huge building plans and some major developments.

	we are only 3 metres but thanks to the Dutch who drained the fens we have plenty of pumping stations & sluices so not worried about flooding.

	93m above sea level Apparently I live in an area at risk of flooding. The greatest risk of flooding is from the canal which is a mile away down quite a steep hill.

	At 164 metres (538 feet),.... I think I'm pretty safe from flooding. The highest point in the town is 210 m (689ft) and has a stone marker

	The link didn't like my address - said it didn't exist!! I know the answer though, because I have to persuade the Insurance Company every year that we are in no danger of flooding!! It's about 50' and 50 yds, but we are an upstairs flat, so probably another 20' up.

	According to that I am 20ft above sea level and the highest point in the village is 29.
