Those attending our village lunch this week!

We are doing it so God help them!

Chicken and bacon pies from the butcher, mashed potato (mine kills pensioners, they furr up visibly as they eat it) tinned peas with some butter and mint sauce.

Lemon ice-cream, also a pensioner killer, pint of double cream, tin of condensed milk, cup of Limoncello (hanging about in the cupboard) and some lemon curd I made last week (half pound butter, six eggs, sugar, lemons) with some orange jellies that have been hanging about in the cupboard with oranges from the market chopped up in them.

Gets me a bit of space in the cupboard if nothing else.

Tell me about cholesterol again.

Do you own the village funeral home by any chance Sharon? :-)

maggiewinchester Report 12 Jun 2017 12:32

Sounds nice :-D

I see a little bit of 'healthy' food there - lemon, eggs, oranges :-D :-D :-D

I don't force it down their necks!

The last time we did the village lunch was the day Fred died. I had cooked a curry for forty-five people and OH was there serving it.

Somebody will be needing a funeral home if they don't get my name right too!!!!!!! Just saying.

Caroline Report 12 Jun 2017 15:23

OMG sorry Sharron don't force feed me all that food as lovely as it sounds :-D :-D

Needed more coffee before I could spell right but it makes a chance from piffle I suppose.

maggiewinchester Report 12 Jun 2017 15:34

That's your problem Caroline - too much Piffle before Dinner!!

Piffle is a beer brewed in Chester.
Piffle! is a beer brewed in Colwyn
Piffle Snonker is a beer brewed in Birmingham

But they're all light ales, I prefer dark ones.

Caroline

Caroline Report 12 Jun 2017 15:39

Or maybe not enough Piffle....no actually light ales also not top of the list.

Now coffee with some glug glug in it that would be fine.....though can't be held responsible for what names I might use if too much is added..... :-D

What sort of curry was it, Sharron?

I seem to remember a 'school dinner ' type of meal Sharron prepared for the village lunch too.

Sharron

Sharron Report 12 Jun 2017 16:53

It was a Quorn Korma, made with commercial sauce but I did put green Oxos in it. I put green Oxos in everything (my rice pudding is best avoided!).

The school dinner one was when I fed forty-five people for £28. That was Quorn mince pasties, tinned peas and boiled spuds followed by chocolate cracknell (puffed wheat, cocoa, butter and syrup) and pink blancmange.

They will eat it if they are hungry.

I like a Korma - but Quorn doesn't like me :-(

Sharron

Sharron Report 12 Jun 2017 23:32

Could it have a point?

I have never understood it when people say that something doesn't like them. Do you mean it gives you indigestion? I have the same problem with beer very sadly but I persevere!

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 12 Jun 2017 23:44

No, worse than indigestion :-(

You wouldn't want to be around....

....even I wouldn't want to be around... :-S :-S :-S

You couldn't comment on this on the bland thread then :-D :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 12 Jun 2017 23:59

Wouldn't you know who would turn it into a thread about farting?

I don't even count that as a reason not to eat something. Probably the most pleasure I get in life!.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 13 Jun 2017 00:01

Moi?????
Not farting - that I don't care about.
No, it's much, much worse :-( :-( :-(

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Jun 2017 00:03

Sorry what....it might be worse than farting and you get pleasure from someone farts..interesting. Wonder what the resident sage may say about this? :-D
