I agree - computers are expensive!! :-|

If they can't sort it out, perhaps they'll do some sort of part-exchange.

Yes, it's only some makes - but irritating if it's 'your' make!!! :-|

Interesting. We are still getting the automatic updates, and I have been trying to avoid installing the Creators Update, which is sort of voluntary, because it alters all sorts of things - called improvements.

If I have understood the article correctly the problem only applies to some makes. The ones listed are all Acer, so perhaps we'll be OK.

Apparently, a number of PCs have unexpectedly been blocked from receiving future Windows 10 updates.

Those affected are PCs that came out in 2012 or later.

These computers shipped with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, and Microsoft made Windows 10 available to them as a free update.

Unfortunately, these computers have now been found to be unable to install the Windows 10 Creators Update

You can still use your computer, but, after 18 months, will no longer receive the security updates.

If you'd chosen to stay with Windows 8 or 8.1 instead of upgrading to Windows 10, you would continue to receive support through to 1 October 2023.
