Do you have a superstition ? When I was younger I'd a few.

Now, no longer young I've less.

Since my crippling injury I knock on wood.

Next to my bed is a large desk. It belonged to my late FIL.

Every time I get off my back and stand I knock on wood.

Long ago we missed our late train from London to Canterbury so we took the only alternative to Ashford, Kent. Rained like mad, we couldn't hitch a lift. My friend roughed the night in a bus shelter. I found a cute grave with a roof nearby nice n dry. So I slept there just fine.

Who are going to call?

Nobody knows what goes on beyond the grave.

That's why most of us fear death.

I've spent an hour or three in a graveyard looking for my GM's plot.

The only thing that disturbed me was so many blown over tomb stones.

I don't walk under ladders - not so much a superstition - just don't fancy something dropping from a height on to me!!! :-D :-D

It was getting dark when I noticed an elderly chap staring intently & pointing at a headstone as I ambled by him through our local cemetery late yesterday evening.

"My name is spelt incorrectly" he declared with a whimper as I hurried my walking pace towards the gate. :-0

My late Mother was terrified of feathers.

She would rather step into the path of a bus than walk past a pigeon on the pavement.

Allan

Allan Report 27 Aug 2017 23:52

Not really a superstition, but I always put my left shoe on first :-S

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 28 Aug 2017 08:10

No superstitions here.

Allan, are you left-footed?

Dermot

Dermot Report 28 Aug 2017 08:30

'First Footing'!

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 28 Aug 2017 08:42

Haven't done that for years, Dermie. 'Twas never a big thing where I was born, however it used to be a massive thing where OH was born.

Did you do that?

Mayfield

Mayfield Report 28 Aug 2017 11:02

Touch wood, no I don't! :-D

Dermot

Dermot Report 28 Aug 2017 11:16

Ladies & all red headed people were unwelcome 'first Footers'.

I was always barred from this annual activity for ONE of the reasons listed above. :-(

Just realised, when I see a single magpie, I always say 'Hello Mr Magpie, how's Mrs Magpie?'
But that's just being polite :-D :-D

Does anyone still hold their collar or cross their fingers (depends on where you're from), until you see a 4 legged animal, when an ambulance or hearse goes by?

Allan

Allan Report 28 Aug 2017 14:26

Not left footed, nor left handed :-)

David

David Report 28 Aug 2017 15:27
