There is now an up to date version of Mozilla Firefox for the Apple Mac.
Download (free) and install.
GR will prob work fine with this.

There are 1001 reasons why sites don't work with Safari. Only those with loadsa money test against Safari the rest ,(inc GR) test against Chrome and that's it. Quite minor changes can cause/fix problems.

I have been using the search button on my mac for years without any problems so I don't know why it would suddenly stop.
Its very annoying and I don't want to get ancestry.com as its so expensive.
Thankyou everybody for replying.

1. search on main menu boards works ok
2. under Tools advanced search does not work

3. under Tools Quick Search works fine inc more than one search term, fast too

I was assuming it's the search heading above the boards that doesn't work for you

If it's the other quick search then that's not worked for yonks

A non technical reply and a quick thought.

Janice, if you are referring to the 'Quick search' button on the left, it is rubbish and hasn't worked properly for yonks.

If you are struggling for something in particular in your family history, just post a query on the Find Ancestors board and someone will come to the rescue. :-D

I use an apple IPad and it works ok for me too

Could be some underlying problem with the settings maybe

And yet my and I'm sure other people Apple products work fine on Genes.....

Janice hope you get the problem resolved rather than having to leave the site.

Apple, grape or brazil nut?

Apple have a wide range of machines and phones, umpteen versions of Safari web browser. Quite recent expensive monitors will not work with new kit.

There is little evidence that Apple cares about compatability with their own stuff let alone third parties. Apple were the leader of the campaign against Flash with the objective of giving Apple a big edge. They failed to get an edge and Adobe rebuilt its video tool set. Now Apple is at war with two of its main chip suppliers.
The company makes Murder Inc / Och look like a bunch of teddy bears.

If third party sites do work with their kit you may thank lady luck and the efforts of the third party. Many don't bother.

The net is in a state of constant and radical change. Old sites which have not been updated are certain to break in unpredictable ways. Apple's idea is to cut a slice where it is the only game in town. Their massive profits on small market share are unique.

Not just disagreeing because it's Rollo saying it....but I use an Apple laptop amongst other computers and have no problem searching the tree or records. It might just come into the problems that seem to be hitting some members on and off, which Rollo will tell you is your fault and genes will say is their's.

Using non Apple kit GR standard search is working fine under all of the popular browsers.

Apple have chosen to not follow the crowd with pretty well anything. They are v tough on security even if it blocks users accessing a site in whole or part. GR has not been updated for yonks and now contains a lot of obsolete methods. It is just thus sort if thing that Apple is quick to drop support for.

V likely you will not get GR to fix the problem given the small online market share of Apple for web use. You can give up or switch to a better supported browser under Windows, Android or Linux. Apple OS will run Windows 7 and XP as a guest OS.

all that glistens ...

good luck

Please can someone help me. For the last few months I have been unable to use search. Everything else works fine but no matter what I do, including suggestions from Genes reunited staff, its useless. I am going to have to cancel my subscription after many years of researching as I don't know what to do.
I have a MacBook air but it doesn't work on an iPad either.
