On the right nearest the bedroom door (as that was my place when the children were babies and I could get to them quickly). Now I am still near the door but also next to the Loo :-D. I would love to sleep on the other side which is next to the open window but OH refuses to change sides :-S I also have a cat now that like Shirley sleeps in the crook of my knees :-D... Never in the crook of OH's knees. |

I try to sleep on the left - furthest from the door, where my favourite pillow, lamp and clock/radio are. |

I've always had a double bed - it's a 1940's number, with solid wood patterned (veneer) headboard and footboard, metal frame base with springs - it's sooo comfy. |

I sleep on the right facing the door which I always leave open a tad. Stems from listening out for the kids when they were young too. But for some strange reason I need to see an open door as cant bare to be shut in. Also I hear better with my left ear, so if there is a noise in the house, I can hear it straightaway whereas if I was laying facing the left my right ear maybe wouldn't hear anything. |

I have no lights on, but sleep with the door open - in fact only 2 doors (apart from front and back doors) are usually closed, the bathroom and 'junk' room. |

Some unfortunates are unlucky not to have a real bed to sleep on. Flimsy sleeping bags in shop doorways or underneath flyovers in our capital city & beyond. |

On the left away from the door or in the middle if the cat wants to sleep on the edge. |

Cats are creatures of habit. Sleep in one place for days/weeks then somewhere else. |

I feel for you Liz. I have a double bed all to myself (occasionally, when George - other cat- decides he prefers the spare bedroom) |
