My lovely DIL's birthday today. Hopes she likes her pressies.

Done me dags, changed all the beds, and washed me barnet. That is a mammoth job on its own. Not that long but it is so thick! I supposed I should not moan at my age, when others are going thin. But I have to put the hairdryer on it, and I would prefer not to.

Either that, or looking like Worzel Gummidge!

Yep, to me dags are me chores. Me dear old Dad used to say it.

He also used a few Cockney Rhyming slang words too. But it never sounded contrived.

He always put his change in his Sky, told me to lighten up me Boat, and Sunday lunchtime always popped out for a pint of Pigs Ear!

I shudder when I hear the 'new' slang words. Mockney does not come into it.

When I was a lad my Mother used s to s do her "messages" This was long before super markets.

Think the shopping errands were referred to as messages as she used have a shopping list aka message ?
