Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Feb 2018 17:01

We each grew up in squalid, junk filled homes, although OH lived in a big house where one room could be made to look the part to impress. Between us, we are getting better at doing the things we should have learned as children.

I think I am a bit better at getting things under control than OH is, like explaining to him that putting the things out of the shopping bag on the work top is not putting the shopping away, it is just emptying the bag.

There are places for things but, with my prolonged absence from reality, things were not in them but we are working on it. When we were sorting out the cupboards on Sunday, we came across a plastic box of white powder. We knew it was nothing exciting but I thought it was flour I had left over from something.

Things still need to be where I need them for me to cook a meal without panicking so I went to the cupboard to get the bowl with a handle that I use for the veg and it was not there. We have had problems in the past with OH putting things in unguessable places like the loaf in the preserving pan with a tea towel over it and I looked in all the places I could think of. Having rung him, I happened to look outside and there it was.

Undaunted, I pressed on with the spuds and thought I would make the shepherds pie with just onions and Quorn mince and a bit of flour and water for some gravy rather than use beer or tomatoes so I used that flour in the box which looked a bit fine and did not behave like I expected it to.

I decided it must be cornflour and had put two desertspoonsful in before I thought I might stick my finger end in and give it a taste.

It was bloody icing sugar so everything had to be thrown into that mince to get rid of the taste. Then I put too much milk in the mash so I am just going to watch quietly while they eat it and I might confess afterwards.

I just hope they don't say it is the best ever and they want me to make another one just the same!

I wouldn't say a thing Sharron, what's the worse it might taste sweet better than unexpected sour.....as for liking it and expecting it again if you're like me not everything gets measured just a touch of this and a dap of that so that's your excuse for not tasting the same again.

They ate it. They enjoyed it. I confessed, they didn't vomit.

Result.

Does cocaine taste like icing sugar?

maggiewinchester Report 6 Feb 2018 18:04

I've got no idea - I thought cocaine was snorted.

You put the white powder in before you'd tasted it!

Caroline

Caroline Report 6 Feb 2018 18:06

Depends what you mix it with!

Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Feb 2018 18:14

Yes, I put two dessertspoonsful of icing sugar into the pan before I thought to make sure it was flour and it wasn't.

Sharron Report 6 Feb 2018 18:36

I have never heard of cocaine being cut with Quorn mince and mashed potato or green Oxo.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 6 Feb 2018 18:40

Really? :-D :-D :-D

Probably not intentionally......

Caroline

Caroline Report 6 Feb 2018 18:52

But if you cut it with icing sugar ......then it would taste of that maybe ??

I'm sure an expert will tell us all soon sit back and wait....

Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Feb 2018 19:31

Well,if it was cocaine cut with icing sugar I am glad I didn't pay for it because it has had no effect at all.

Maybe I need something harder!

What's the mushroom situation like in your pantry? :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Feb 2018 21:33

No self-respecting mushroom would grow in there.
