Today I was feeling the back of my lower calf a bit sore. When I looked closely, I noticed a couple of tiny pin prick spots. They were not itchy but actually sore to the touch.

This evening I suddenly felt my leg really sore so had another look. oh my there are about 30 tiny spots on the back of the lower calf and very sore.

just cant imagine what's causing it as I don't have the rash anywhere else. Its almost like a prickly heat rash, but as its so cold, theres no chance of that lol

Anyone else ever had this type of rash. I don't have a temperature nor am I feeling ill.
just that its very sore to the touch.

Any suggestions?

Allergic reaction is a possibility. Have you brushed against anything unusual?

Florence61

Florence61 Report 1 Mar 2018 18:32

No, ive been indoors all day today and wearing my normal comfy trousers.

if it spreads during the night. I will have to see if I can get to the doctors as it will soon be the weekend.

just can understand what it is. I haven't eaten anything unusual or put anything on my skin..
Bit of a mystery.

Thanks for you reply

I hope it sorts soon for you if you can't get to the doctor try your local Pharmacist they are pretty good at giving suggestions of what it could be

Could it be shingles? When my daughter had it she had small red spots rather than the big blisters many get.

Do you have animals
Is it possible you may have been bitten ?

It is usually my first stop before the aggravation of trying to get a doctor's appointment.

I was going to suggest it might be a reaction to wearing high boots for prolonged periods, but as you've been indoors that can't be it.

Is the skin dry?
Does the rash spread down to your foot?

I too would ask a pharmacist, who I've found to be really helpful. They will advise whether you need to see a GP or not.

Thankyou for all your suggestions.
Yesterday I did become very unwell. I developed a nasty migraine midday on Friday.Tried to sleep but couldn't as my neck and eyes were very sore. I was violently sick late after noon and shivery. Eventually went to bed around 9pm, managed to sleep til 3am then again til 8am.
I got up today and felt so much better but noticed the rash had not only spread but tonight on my other leg a similar rash.
I wonder as ive had a couple of nasty viruses recently, whether this rash is the viruses now finally leaving my body. This happened once before and the doctor did say this happens.
As I feel better tonight, I shall keep an eye over tomorrow and see if it has subsided on Monday. Shingles did spring to mind as ive had this many years ago but the spots were on my trunk not my legs.

I have had a lot of stress in my life the last 6 months so anything is possible.

Will let you peeps know if I find out.
thanks for all your help

Have you done the ‘glass test’ on your rash??

Florence61

Florence61 Report 4 Mar 2018 10:54

Yes and it didn't disappear. But today its not any worse and I do feel much better. Head isn't sore anymore.

Two weeks ago I had an upper respiratory infection, nasty cough and loss of appetite. Didn't eat for 3 days, lost 8 pounds in weight.!!

I guess my immune system is below par and with this cold weather, not getting a chance to build up again. I drink fresh orange juice everyday for vit c and eat healthily but with everything else going on, body is just a bit worn out.

I'm not used to being ill and rarely at the doctors so the rash, cough etc is weighing me down.

Roll on the spring and warmer weather and I'm sure ill be fine.

Thanks

Are you drinking the same amount of orange juice as you have always done or increased it. Orange juice can be very acid.

Florence61

Florence61 Report 4 Mar 2018 14:06

Ann, I hadn't been drinking much recently and not such a big eater as I was once, so started drinking the juice to boost my immune system.I need to increase my fruit too.

I eat fish and chicken but no other meats and haven't done for over 50 years. cant tolerate fat of any description, nor eggs, butter, milk and cream but hard cheddar cheese only.

thanks for you suggestion though

Hope you are feeling a bit better Florence. OH and I have both been laid low by a bout of flu so this is the first time I have been on the site for several days. Can I give a bit of general advice?

If any of you even suspect a rash might be shingles see a medical person quickly. If you are seen within 72 hours of the rash appearing you can be prescribed anti-viral drugs. They won’t cure shingles but they prevent it from developing further.

Take care Florence and let us know how you get on.
