Sharron

Sharron Report 24 Mar 2018 16:35

Still hurts but,at least I can tell which tooth the pain is coming from now so it is back to the dentist on Monday.

SylviaInCanada Report 21 Mar 2018 23:18

I woke up one morning just before we went away in December with a very sore jaw joint, near my ear. A weekend, of course. It even hurt to talk :-0 :-D

I dosed myself with pain killers, and used both warmth and cold, it had eased a bit by Monday, so I didn't bother with either doc or dentists. Left on Tuesday, the pain gradually became a dull ache and even sometimes no pain at all. Although I couldn't tell whether it was only the joint, the jaw bone or teeth ......... it definitely hurt to eat on that side!

Had my 6 monthly check-up yesterday, told the hygienist, and she went and told the dentist. Both had a poke around my upper left teeth ....... dentist even gave me the "cold test". That meant putting ever increasing amounts of some sort of freezing agent until I yelped with the pain ............ tests the sensitivity of the tooth.

Turns out it is nothing to do with my teeth, but "Arfur Itis" has moved into the jaw joint :-(

Pity ........ something could have been done if it had been teeth, nothing can be done with the jaw except learn to live with it, and use pain killers if/when the pain gets worse. :-( :-P

Hope you do not suffer much longer.

Lucky with NHS Dentist. There is a distinct lack of them around.

Are you anywhere near a hospital, that has a teaching section - dentistry?

Sharron Report 21 Mar 2018 22:06

Well done. It is hard to find an NHS dentist round here.

The pain in my tooth is just less often now and I can work out where it is coming from.

Had a molar out yesterday, myself.
Had abcess 2 weeks ago, antibiotics.

Cost on NHS, just over £56.

Hate toothache.

But I am very proud of my door handles, Joy-Louise. I still have the bakelite ones that were there when the house was built. Not risking them on my tooth.

As for having the tooth out, well, I am like a broken mouthed old ewe as it is. I just don't want to loose any more because I will start to look like I should be on Jeremy Kyle, more so,then.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 18 Mar 2018 12:38

Have you tried a piece of string around the nasty tooth, tied to a door handle. That'll give you something different to whinge about, Sharron. ;-) :-D :-0

If the anti-biotics don't work,it could be a root filling and the extraction of £500!

I could take co-codamol. That would bring it to a grinding halt.
