Sad to see you go but even sadder that you are so poorly, Rose. I hope you feel better soon. You know we are all here for you on gr or fb

I joined in 2005 and my membership has been continuous. It was under a tenner again last month so I am happy to keep it going even tho I am not on here so much.

Take care

:-) it was 8 months Maggie 2016/17 so that was that lol.

Mindyou I didn't join till 2006 so paid more than some who have been here since the beginning. GR never did sort out the pricing, they randomly upped the price for some oldies and left it the same as when they joined for others :-S

Ah- you shouldn't have let it lapse in the past, then!! :-D

Rambling Report 8 Apr 2018 00:34

Not by much Maggie, as it's £19.95, minus 10% ( if they offer it lol) if I stay.

maggiewinchester Report 8 Apr 2018 00:30

It'll cost you more to re-join, if you allow your membership to elapse!! :-|

:-D

Joy, I never like to leave without saying goodbye, it would seem rude ;-)

If I'm going because I'm fed up then I wan't people to know it ;-)
If I'm going just because I need a break to do other things then I don't want people to think I've died! :-)

But I wouldn't say I'll never be back...just in case that gave anyone cause to celebrate lolol :-)

And who knows there might be some queries on the the other boards that I just 'have' to help on, that's the most satisfying bit for me. Or something might crop up here that I just can't ignore ;-)

I'm around for another week or so, the green 'Renew' has appeared at the top of the page.

And it's still the best site for making contacts for the family tree.

AnninGlos Report 28 Mar 2018 14:48

Oh rose that sounds painful. I had the cough which wiped me out for about 4 weeks but didn't have those pains at all. Hope you can get that sorted soon.

I do enjoy chatting on here but the good old bad old days were mostly fun. even the rows and trolling was mesmerising for those of us onlookers. There were certainly some very strange vindictive people on here who brought out the worst in some who were not as bad, so it became tit for tat and drove Admin wild.

We had some really funny threads that were laugh out loud funny. the long running pantomime thread (with our lovely and much missed BC as the Old Woman who lived in the shoe) was hilarious and quite annoying if it had moved on a page or so by the time you got back on.

Those days won't come back because they are tied up with the wonder of the new social media, Facebook came along and out-paced it. But we experienced it and I have great memories from those times.

However, we are still here and I still have a chuckle occasionally when something daft happens. Allan still makes me laugh for one. :-D :-D

and the support is still here. I know several friends on here who I could PM if I had something I was worried/upset about which is a great comfort.

rose, get yourself healthier and come back to us again please. You know you will miss us. <3 <3

If you can’t get to the doctors, can they come to you??

Rambling Report 28 Mar 2018 13:22

I rejoined last time as I enjoy doing the searches, but not in the best state of health so will not renew for a while at least, and try and get other things done while I still can :-) just generally falling apart at the seams lol.

On that, has anyone who has had 'the cough' that's been going round, had pains in their feet, legs and hands following it? I have arthritis in knees anyway but the last day have had really quite horrendous pain in my feet and hands...(on a scale of 1 to 10 hitting 8+) it's like arthritis pain but more so and the phrase 'not knowing where to put yourself' sums it up pretty well :-( ...and yes I will go to Dr when i can get there.

‘General’ was rather sedate. ‘Chat’ was light hearted or viscous. It was a scary place.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 28 Mar 2018 07:50

I remember the rows which seemed to start over nothing. And the threats, which were a bit scary.

But also I remember the support given to members when they were ill. And the money raised in Gaynor's memory with the pink bear.

There were some very strange people on here, back in the day, and many fakes, I'm sure.

The trolls have moved on to pastures new.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 28 Mar 2018 07:44

Its certainly not as much fun as it was all those years ago. I can remember being eager to get back on line to see 'who had said what'. :-D

I remember ...

All the discussions each time the site format changed.

The arguments between various members.

The speed at which the boards moved.

The members whose replies could be considered as rather....er .... snarky

The long standing threads I became part of

The time when John was banned for 6 years.......

So many memories and just where is AnnCardiff these days?

No, in fact I don't think that any posts have been recently, at least not on those threads that I contribute to or may add to.
