I mean, really obsessively mean people who claim they detest waste? The sort of people who finish off the crusts of your butties at lunch time and even licked the lid of your yogurt, eat out of date food. I have been known to tighten my belt and keep a firm grip on the purse strings and count the pennies but I sometimes wonder are mean people even being frugal or just very very very greedy?

Emma , does your dog then go on to tell how much cheeper the yogurts are at Netto, their own brand mind ? :-D

I was going to say I don't know anyone like that - then I remembered my eldest brother :-|

To give him his due, though, he's been doing it all his life.
When I was little, I was a slow eater.
I had to 'learn' not to save what I really liked (like roast potatoes) to eat last.
He, (7 years older) would clear his plate, then turn to me and say 'You don't want that, do you?' Before I could say 'Yes' he'd eaten it! :-| :-| :-|

I stayed with him recently. I had too much food on my plate (he'd cooked and served). No problem - he ate it!! :-D :-D

Maggie is your brother really fat , over weight and obese ? They normally are, plain greedy.

He's not as skinny as he used to be (about as 'fat' as David Bowie), but I'm not as skinny as I was, either.
We're just 'further to the right on the BMI scale - in the 'normal' bit :-D

Caroline,I am fat, a size 28 and I am mean. I grind up left-over soap and grate up cheese rinds.

Not sure that really quite goes into the territory Madge mentioned though...close but not there....

I have been known to bring home the left-over bread from a buffet to make bread pudding!

Okay to be fair you're not taking food off someone plate as such, you're taking something that would be thrown away....I went to a hotel once and they had hundreds of types of bread for the breakfast buffet....and no waste as they made bread pudding and served it hot each morning.

There's nothing wrong about being careful with the pennies. :-0

We still have some food in the freezer which was left over from my 'party' the other week, including a chicken carcass. Not wishing to waste any of it we have invited a few people to visit us on Saturday.

The think that it's for a get-together while in fact it is an opportunity for us to offload all the food that's clogging up the freezer.

The chicken will be used for a stock which will be the base of a curry sauce :-D

If the bread is too stale to be used for sandwiches then we'll make a bread and butter pudding.

As for our normal fare, now that the weather is cooling down a tad, we can go looking for road kill again :-D :-D

I think you are missing my point Allan. Lets go back to your party did you polish off the left overs on peoples plates.......nope didn't think so. :-D
