I am with Magpie on this & one of my best friends grew up on the Sandringham estate from an early age until she moved away when she got married. She knew the Royal family quite well. So i heard a few stories of people away from the camera.

I rest my case as i heard about the Public and private side of Diana she wasn't all bad & she was used - but also she found a way to play the public and the press to her own advantage.

I think if she had never been a part of the Royal family life she would have been a very different person. looking at the TV version she was so different the first 2 or 3 years and then she really changed after Harry was born. She may of course been influenced by a spin doctor or the butler and egged on - who will ever know the real story.

Well, we'll just have to agree to differ! I didn't care for Diana, simple as that, for me she was 'sly Di', so will leave it at that.

Magpie Diana was used abused and cast aside
And yes I do know somebody who knew her well

Ester said Diana was a kind caring person
who made mistakes while searching for the love
she didn't find in her Marriage :-P

I think it's unfair to say that Diana should have married a rich playboy. If she had not been pushed into a relationship with Charles at her young age, she would have probably developed and matured differently, unused to fame and fortune, and married someone relatively normal for her lifestyle at the time.

And I'm afraid the late Queen Mother and Diana's grandmother Lady Fermoy!! But it's now water under the bridge! I absolutely agree that Diana would have been much more suited to a rich play boy who could have given her the lifestyle she seemed to crave!
I so agree with you about Charles and Camilla, in fact Highgrove is only a few miles from us and although I can't QUITE say that we're neighbours!!! we are in the same County and we live in hopes of seeing them!!

Well said Magpie - I saw The Diana interview again the other day (well some of it. She knew how to play the press and the camera. To me she always looked under her eyes like a little child in the wrong would. Personally not someone i would trust or make a friend of, have had personal instances of that kind of person stabbing you in the back (with their words).

Now Charles and Camilla seem like a nice friendly couple who live next door & you could chat to over the fence. about the garden or animals. I agree they should have been allowed to marry first time ad we would not have had the kind of problems we did. Old Mountbatten had a lot to answer for.

Diana would have been happier marrying a jet setting playboy who was more her lifestyle.

I was replying to JBA David she did use the word scheming. Sorry, thought that was obvious!!

David Report 6 Jun 2018 09:07

I never said she was scheming, you've got the wrong one. I did say she was unpopular
among the senior royals. Of course I do not know them personally. All I do know is from the press and social media.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 6 Jun 2018 08:43

Well, I hope in time time Charles comes to the throne with Camilla by his side. Camilla's scheming? I think that the 'saintly' (?!!) Diana knew more about scheming than Camilla ever would! Presumably though you know them personally to make such a ridiculously sweeping statement?!! I don't think any amount of horse riding can stop the passage of time !!

Despite the fact that Windsor 1 has survived several President and Prime Ministers

and Popes she continues to exhibit good health. Long may that continue. Her early

morning ride on horse back albeit a smaller horse these days is doing no harm at all.

I personally hope the queen out lives Charles
Then all Camillas scheming comes to nothing

Lets see if they cast her out then or keep her close :-D :-D :-D

Tbh it would concern me or most people. It's a conversation piece, nothing more.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 5 Jun 2018 19:35

As consort to the king she will automatically become Queen in exactly the same way as other kings wives have throughout history. That's the way it is and I don't think many people actually care these days! It may be decided to give her a different title, but as for most people it is not an issue any more , it may well be that they don't. Tbh David, why does it matter?!

David

David Report 5 Jun 2018 19:18

I meant if Camilla became Queen as a result of the death of ERII

David

David Report 5 Jun 2018 19:04

If Camilla were to become Queen and Charles died, wouldn't sit well ?

That's really nice to hear Emma. My cousin in Australia assures me that there too the Queen and the Duke are held in high esteem, the P Of W respected, and the young royals are very popular, so not much withering there Dermot! I can't speak for Canada of course.

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 5 Jun 2018 15:02

Nonsense Dermot can't speak for Australia or Canada
but can assure you Her Majesty and next in line are highly
thought of here in Scotland.

If NS wins the fight for independence ( God forbid ) we will still
look to keep our royalty.

Oh come on! No one can be expected to pretend to be something/body they're not! I'd much rather someone was true to themselves than pretending to be trendy when clearly they're not, just to appease public opinion, particularly when that person is 5 months off their 70th birthday!! Nothing worse than an elderly trendy!!
Without the input of Andrew Parker Bowels, I'm sure their children would have been just fine!

Mind if he had had wed Cam.......I dread to think what any children may have looked like. :-D,,going by her son Tom,,,,,,,,, ;-) :-D :-D :-D,

I still aint no fan of Charles,,,,,,,,,,about time he re-invented himself and had some youthful fun instead of being the old man hes always looked.

Lets see you in a pr of Wranglers or Tesco jeans,Charlie.
