Oh yes, I did enjoy the Sibelius.

I put the Ring Cycle on but didn't enjoy the beginning, it was pretty boring and I gave up on it this time but I will come back to it and try again.

Thank you for pointing me towards them.

I always had Beethovens Pastoral Symphony when I was van driving. It was pretty useful in traffic jams. Sometimes a bit of Aaron Copeland or Holst as well but I am finding all sorts of good stuff now and will try those two suggestions tomorrow maybe.

Try Sibelius - Karelia Suite. Starts very quietly then builds up.

My parents sometimes had it on the house but after moving out last year I’m now finding my own favourites.

Are you new to it as well, Tawny?

I have listened to it a bit before but now the television has access to You Tube, I am really exploring it more and it presents me with composers I have never heard of and would not otherwise ever have listened to.

My neighbors treat us to flying saucers at 1am on a Saturday so I don’t feel at all guilty exploring a wide range of classical music.

I haven't tried much Wagner much yet.

Don't think I would want to actually go to an opera or a ballet but I don't mind having them on while I am doing other things.

My neighbour in the flat below is a very good, self-taught pianist and organist. Until arthritis in his hands sadly forced him to stop, we used to get a classical concert every day. It was brilliant!

After we had been here for a couple of weeks, he asked if the practising disturbed us. When I said we liked it, he was delighted, as the previous owner had complained constantly about "the racket". We promptly became his favourite neighbours. :-) :-)

It wasn't quite so good when his daughter started learning the trumpet - but we didn't complain. (I remember when our younger son started the trombone!) His daughter actually became good enough to be bearable very quickly.

My neighbours don't make a lot of noise so I try to be a bit careful when I am exploring my new found world of classical music.

However, my neighbours, who have bought their council house so are superior in every way, have chosen to put their wheely bins right opposite my kitchen window, against the extension that blocks out my light, so that I am able to admire them while I wash up.

They like to sit out in the yard they call a patio in the summer so I keep my wheely bins right next to the fence there. Hum they go!

Our daughter’s neighbour listens to popular music through earphones. She sings along...loudly & very badly.
Daughter’s OH plays the guitar. He sits next to the party wall & accompanies her. She doesn’t sing so loudly now :-D

Ha ha :-D Good suggestions I hadn’t thought of so far. William Tell is definitely sounding like a good third introduction for them when I do the ironing later.
