10 minutes is all anyone gets these days David unless more time is needed. That's now standard practice for everyone. I don't expect your GP has an opinion either way particularly if she hasn't seen you for years! If she felt there was a problem she would have made that obvious and probably struck you off! She would HAVE to inform you of this decision to give you the opportunity to discuss it with her.

Gone are the days when we had a named GP. Now, if you need an appointment you’ll see whoever’s available.
Most GPs have a speciality so if you need a diabetic check up, you’ll be given an appointment with Dr X whilst Dr Y has an interest in Geriatrics or paediatrics.

You mentioned you had an annual check up a few months ago. Dr Z came to the house because it was his turn to do home visits, not because your named GP didn’t want to see you. :-D

we only get 10 minutes with our family practitioners ............. at least, that is all the government pays them for ............. unless certain other procedures need to be done or talked about, eg a medical check-up. If the doctor takes any more than 10 minutes, he/she doesn't get any more money.

We're lucky ............. we go to the university's medical school clinic for training Family Practitioners, so we see Residents there for 2 years, and they are given time to discuss with you AND then go and discuss with the physician on duty.

This is training on the job!

Plus they all have to serve time in one of the Emergency Departments around the city as they are usually going to go to rural areas where part of their job will be to take their turn in staffing the local Emergency.
