... expired at midnight.

Just when I decided to pop back in after all these months ...

(For anyone who has missed me or whom I have let down -- life has been a bowl of something other than cherries for the last 6+ months, and I'll tell the tale sometime.)

My iPad said Apple couldn't verify the site too

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 19 Nov 2018 08:35

Is this an oversight or a way of giving up on this site? :-(

People wavering about remaining members may walk especially if GR ignore what's happening.

You can get in if you know what's going on but there are many on here who are not that computer savvy. :-S

GR GET SORTED! :-0

I`v got same message. Whats up with GR? Have they been bought out by Find My Past?

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 19 Nov 2018 12:47

Announcement on FB apparently but I'm not on it and there are other people on this site who aren't so GR have betrayed once more those who pay their wages.

Don't come after me in a few months time GR. :-|

Julie - GR & FMP are part of the same umbrella company.
We've a sneaky suspicion that they want to close GR or merge the two. The monopolise commision, as it was then, said the 2 had to run side by side.

All that a site cert does is to tell you that communications between Web server and client are encrypted. An expired or no cert at all does not prevent you from Connecting to the site.
The protection of SSL is pretty minimal The web server of Vision Express was hacked during November and the details of about 20000 clients Inc bank card details stolen. Same recently with BA.
beware Russians
I advise users of GR to use the PayPal option.

I should have been more helpful and added that it's easy to get around by making an exception for the site, which is what I did, which was why I was posting at midnight:32. :)

Although I guess that if one didn't know to make the exception, one would not have seen my helpful advice ...
