Well morning (just) all.

We've had a water leak on the pavement just outside our gate. We reported it 3 times to get it done before Christmas and last Thursday OH spoke to the man in charge of sorting water leaks in the village. He assured OH he would be here Friday - OH forgot to ask which Friday (a must do out here) one week later they came.

There were in fact 2 leaks so new connections and a new section of hose (it's Cyprus) were laid. Mud everywhere, a JCB digging up the pavement and making a trench about 3 metres long. The men from the water works here and 2 vans from CYTA. CYTA - think BT. CYTA came as the JCB cut through cables for internet and phone line so new cables laid and connected to the house.

A total of 9 men here and at one time 4 arguing how to sort out leak :-0.

JCB and 2 man left filling in trench :-D Life is so boring in Paradise (the area I live is called Paradise) ;-)

So do we, Priya keeps going to the patio doors and growling, they have put cones out to stop people walking over the mud. We'll have to wait for new replacement paving slabs.

9 men and a JCB ? several of them are incompetent.
One man, possibly two, equipped with spade and the correct tools used to be adequate.

Anyway, good morning to you all <3 <3

Afternoon All. :-D <3

Bright and sunny here. :-D

Crikey Pat, I know how you feel. We had a burst watermain a few months back. Water was gushing down the road. Our houses had none, cos it had been turned off, then some bright spark delivered bottled and dumped it on the corner.

Only snag was, cars were pulling up and putting the bottles in their boots. :-P

Afternoon David:-D :-D <3 <3

The labourers couldn't sort out the internet and phone lines - 3 were techs from CYTA. The JCB owner goes around doing whatever he's asked to do. It's much faster having a JCB and there's lots of concrete laid out here so a JCB is much quicker. He also helped fill the trench in. The others are local water board/village council workers.

3 men were in the trench bailing it out. We have a lot of clay in the soil so water just sits in it. They were here just over an hour. Other than the 3 bailing and the man in charge arguing for a few minutes they were speedy and no doubt when the wet mud has dried out and settled we'll get new paving. :-D

We pay for the local water board workers in our water bills of £90 per year and village council workers come out of the annual council tax of £130 per year of which £90 is for the twice weekly bin collection. :-D

Afternoon Maddie :-D :-D <3 <3

It wasn't gushing until they opened up the trench, a constant stream which altered according to pressure. Our water comes via black pipes similar but more robust than garden hoses. :-D

David

David Report 28 Dec 2018 17:36

I haven't read back up the page, what caused it ? I had a relation who would think nothing of digging up a back yard in the winter to lay or repair a soil pipe. All those extra men would get i the way.Once the repair is made the water would just soak into the ground.
