I didn't have a tree on 23andMe so that couldn't happen with me and OH and daughter did it and guess what we are all related and because of her married name they didn't know the connection.

Yes, but if your Granddad was married to your Grandmother at this time he would legally be his father.

My half sister was registered in my father's surname as my mother was not yet divorced from my father and it was her legal name.
She had another one done later as the proper surname when she married my stepfather.

Someone on here said on a thread once that they wondered if your entries on your tree on a site would influence the results of the DNA.
I have only a very direct (mostly no siblings) tree on Ancestry. All Welsh English and an Irish surname.

They keep on refining it as more people have their DNA done. If all of Scandinavia had their DNA analysed you may find you link up with lots there and it will help clarify the facts.

Mine says 37 % Scottish & Irish / 63% English, Welsh and North Western European.
But when they compare with others they change it all the time.
But it defo says % Scandinavia.
I find it contradicts itself all over the place.
Sometimes I think I am smelling a rat!

So the birth certificate named father was the LEGAL father as he was the mother's husband? but she disputed it?

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 6 Jan 2019 19:54

Mine generalises and does Northern Europe which could mean Viking but due to my Mitochondrial DNA it's liable to be German as my mother's line goes back to the Doggerland people.
