What a terrible shock for her family and friends. So sad that she felt this was the only way out.

Rest in Peace, Caroline. You left many memories but they won't replace you with your family and friends.

I can't help thinking that the CPS have a lot to answer for, it looks a bit as though they wanted a show trial of a celebrity even though it seems to have been a lover's spat and the boyfriend didn't press charges.

Taking your own life on Valentine's Day might support that.

That's not very nice phrase, Brian. I have lost two friends by suicide in the distant past and altho I had lost touch with them way before, I still felt guilty for not knowing they were struggling.

Maybe change the wording of the last sentence Brian it is not very sensitive. Other than that I agree with you re the CPS. And of course they refuse to comment.

PatinCyprus Report 17 Feb 2020 10:05

I know nothing about the lady but CPS is being blamed.

The law was changed to protect woman too frightened to take abusive partners to court. CPS now has the right, if there is enough evidence, to take the case to court whatever the victim says.

CPS would be damned if they didn't and damned if they did. CPS was in a no win situation as there was media coverage so the case couldn't be ignored - one law for us another for them mentality would have taken over.

I agree Pat and they were points made by a former Chief Prosecutor on BBC Breakfast today.

But you all have to remember WHO phoned the police.
And her boyfriend admitted he phoned them.

But it still so sad that such a young girl had to die that way.
RIP Caroline

"Just yesterday morning, they let me know you were gone.
Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you.
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song,
I just can't remember who to send it to.
I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again.

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus, You've got to help me make a stand.
You've just got to see me through another day.
My body's aching and my time is at hand and I won't make it any other way.
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again.

Been walking my mind to an easy time, my back turned towards the sun.
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around.
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come.
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend,
but I always thought that I'd see you baby, one more time again, now.

Thought I'd see you one more time again.
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now.
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you, fire and rain, now.

Suicide is always a chilling mystery & a desolating act. RIP.

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 17 Feb 2020 13:08

... and always sad for everyone involved, Dermot. It raises more questions than it answers, I think.

I had never heard of Miss Flack but I suspect that we shall never know (nor should we, following her death) what the CPS would have disclosed.

Such a sorrowful waste of a person's life. May she rest in peace.

Dermot

Dermot Report 17 Feb 2020 14:01

JoyLouise - Indeed!

Suicide doesn’t take away the pain. It just passes it on to the family left behind.
