Ann, i said to daughter yesterday, are you sure i have washed this before in this machine as the previous machine was an 8kg, this is only a 6kg! I was worried that it would be too heavy once saturated with water but she assured me it would be fine...Famous last words. :-0

Oh Joan!!! Dont put away your torch etc just yet. Sometimes that happens here when they are finding faults in other places and they switch your supply to another feed. i keep a small torch in my pocket every evening even when its not stormy...force of habit living in the wild west.. Hope you sleep tonight and will be cosy & warm.

Afternoon from a very overcast bleak corner of the uk. Very damp and drizzly and chilly too.
Making the most of today as tomorrow is my big....yes bus pass day lol I shall be 60!!!

Am hoping to be able to get into my friends car ok and pick up 3 others. We are going for a meal in a local hotel. Was supposed to be 8 but now down to 6.Will be able to have 1/2 glass of something but that's all because of my meds!

Not quite the birthday bash I had planned but in the circumstances , this meal is better than nothing. I shall miss my family terribly and my 4 best friends who had originally planned to fly me south for a weekend.

However, daughter is doing her best and i think has a few tricks up her sleeve lol bless her, she is a very special lassie and very lucky to have her.

I shall come back on Sunday on here and let you know how it went. Somehow dont think there will be a stripper :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hope Joan you are still connected and getting back to normal.

Hope everyone else is ok and keeping well.

Hi Florence. My goodness you are a baby compared to myself I was 21 when you were born.

It has been very damp and dark here all day but not really rained and the temp is 8 degrees so not too cold. No frost this morning anyway. I have not done a lot today just a visit to the hairdresser to have my hair cut so that is it for Christmas.

I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow Florence, enjoy your meal with your friends and stay safe.

Joan hope your power has been behaving itself.

Afternoon folks. Well it's a lovely dry & sunny day here today. A little crisp but quite beautiful.
Joan soup sounds good today although i'm still full from last night lol.

Glad your electric came back, bet your heart was doing a turn wondering if you would be in the dark again!

Spent the morning clearing up all my presents and sorting out gift bags etc. We filled a black bin bag with all the wrapping paper. I had some lovely gifts including a large bottle of Lanson champagne from a work colleague. So very spoilt indeed.

So I'm now resting as I am still tired but was a day & night to remember.

Enjoy the broth Joan

Evening to anyone looking in tonight.
Suddenly remembered at 10.30 it was black bin day !!!. Lucky they were a bit late so managed to get them out in time especially as they were both full.

The sky has been black with hailstones and sleety showers and bitterly cold today. i finished off 2 gift bags for friends calling next week and the last 2 parcels, daughter managed to get them on the bus to go to town for posting.

I woke up today with the beginning of a migraine which steadily got worse and by lunchtime, i was really in pain. I think it was Saturday nights curry although, it was really delicious. As I recall some years ago, having a curry in the same place and a day later suffered a migraine for 2 days. i can only think, it was a spice in the meal that disagreed with me?
Anyway, i stretched out on the sofa with my fleece dressing gown and slept til 4pm and now after some toast, i almost feel ok.

Joan soup the next day always tastes better.
At least the next storm will hopefully miss you as you certainly had your fair share of it. It is windy here just now but only about 35mph...just a breeze up here.

Going to return to my cosy sofa now and rest with the tv.

Stay safe all

Good afternoon from a very sunny and bright island. Its sooo calm and not a breath of wind today.

I'm feeling very pleased with myself as all the parcels sent were received within 2 days and that's 2nd class!! Amazing service for a change. All cards done too so have put the left overs away until next year or unless I do get a stray card from someone who has'nt been in touch for a long time.

Did a good tidy up yesterday too and ironing all up straight for now.

I've had 2 bits of great news. Next April, hopefully, my bestie is coming up to stay for a week. She will hire a car and we will share the expense. Sooo excited about that.
Also got word that a 2nd cousin is coming to rent a holiday home not far from me and wants to meet me for the first time. Her dad and my dad are 1st cousins.

So that's 2 events to look forward to, however, i'm a realist and of course anything could change re Covid etc but still nice things to look forward to.

Going to make some more mince pies as they don't last very long in this house lol.

For tea, I have a lot of veg in the fridge like half a cauliflower, leek, carrots and lots of onions so think a cauliflower cheese bake will be good to use them up. Trying very hard to lose a few pounds before my xmas dinner. Lost 2lbs so far this week so doing ok. the bake is carb free and low in calories too.

Hope everyone else ok and keeping well.

Good evening all.
Joan so glad you are back. I was quite worried as thought something may of happened to you or hubby!

We had quite a storm on Sunday eve 72mph but not the worst.Just a sleepless night, no damaged so all is ok.

Had a friend for lunch today so i made veg soup yesterday and baked a couple of bagettes along with some crisps and other nibbles.

The time flies by and before we noticed it was nearly 3pm!! She came at 11.30 but we always have lots to catch up on as she works in a nursery so im still kinda connected to school in a way. A teacher had had her first baby ,a wee girl which was lovely just before xmas.

So a lovely day except for the lashing rain lol but i was indoors so didnt bother me.

Hard to believe its nearly xmas. Got a tesco delivery coming saturday and thats it really. Daughter will pop to town maybe on Thurs for milk, and some fresh salad things and thats it.

I have a tel call with gp tom to discuss maybe having the covid jag. I guess im looking for some reassurance about taking a reaction. Its just the way things are going with the new virus, im feeling very scared now.

Anyway we shall see.

Been working on a friends huge family tree all evening and yesterday, so thats keeping me busy.

Aw Joan poor little one. Chickenpox always surfaces around xmas. Hope he gets over it before xmas day. Wonder where your bird feeder went? I expect the wind blew it elsewhere. It may turn up yet.

Mince & tatties sounds good although im a veggie, but its warming comfort food in the winter. I finished off the soup i made with some seeded bread and now feeling full.

Had my long chat with gp today. She hardly knew anything about whats happened to me recently, so i filled her in. She wasnt best pleased at all! So she is sending community nurse to take bloods. check bp etc and do an overall assessment of me plus contacting physio and OT for a home visit to help if they can.

She is also going to chase up MRI scan for me and see where i am on the list.
Spent 45 mins on the tel, appointment was for 15 mins but she said not to worry.

I also chatted over my concerns about the Covid jag and have decided to go ahead with it. i shall ring tom to find out. There is also transport available for housebound peeps like me which is good.

So felt better for talking to the dr today, expressing my worries etc and now feel a lot better. Dont feel quite so alone now they know whats going on.

Communication between the medical depts is dire isnt it? All scan reports should be sent direct to GP whatever the outcome.

Right better do my 2 dishes and make a cuppa before corrie comes on.

Take care & stay safe all.

Hello all, Florence good the doctor let the call go on over time. Awful that she had not been kept informed of your condition. Hope she can move things forward now.
Good that you feel able to have the jab now.

Joan hope your grandson is not too poorly with chicken pox. At least he will have got it out of the way before he starts school. Hope he has recovered I effectively enough to enjoy Christmas.

Good morning peeps
A very still but damp day here today and also not too cold. I managed out to the bin with lots of cardboard and packaging for recycling.

The nurses came yesterday afternoon and took oodles of blood from me....vampires!
Probably be after xmas til i get the results but at lease something is being done.

Tesco coming for the last time tomorrow so just need to finalise the list before tonight.

Hard to believe its xmas eve a week today...yay

Have a good day all :-D

Afternoon all, a damp but not cold day, very gloomy though. I had a nurse appointment for prescription check for BP and blood. BP is up from 16 moths ago (who is surprised given that we have been in and out of lockdown and various other restrictions and my lovely OH died) so I now have to take a weeks BP night and morning. and that was the first time I have ever felt any pain when having blood taken. I have not had that nurse do it before (maybe one to be avoided.) anyway regardless of the result I shall be away for the next 3 weeks. So that will have to be sorted when I come home.

glad you got yours done Florence.

Evening to all.
Had such a busy day today. I decided to put all my 60th birthday cards into a scrap book and the photos we have taken, i shall get some printed and add them too as i have 6 pages in the scrapbook spare. I covered the book with a lovely piece of spare wrapping paper covered in hearts. I just had enough glue stick too before it ran out, so a good job done.

Feeling in a cooking/baking mode, I made 2 fish pies with puff pastry. One each for myself and daughter but mine had lots of mushrooms in which she doesnt like. I then cooked 12 sausages, cut them in half and with the left over pastry made a dozen sausage rolls.

With just enough pastry left, i used some of my blackcurrant jumble jam and made a strudel for pudding dusted in icing sugar.

Gosh, the dishes i washed up!!! My back & legs were aching but the pies were delicious as were the sausage rolls and the strudel with ice cream was lovely.

I also did 3 loads of washing, dried and ironed the lot...I really was on a mission today and although I tired now, Im glad i achieved so much, very satisfying.

I have on the Royal variety performance but sorry to say, Im bored with it! Not really making me laugh and Alan Carr, whom normally does make me laugh, I think is struggling with his jokes!

So Im chilling with me coffee and not moving until i go to bed.

Still, calm day but damp again...not used to no wind up here lol

Hope all ok with everyone

Hello all, hope you are all ok , today is better weather wise. Yesterday was very damp and foggy .

Ann hope your BP settles down ok, I have high BP and it is always a bit higher when I go to the nurse for a check up. This year has been difficult for you as you say so that doesn't help.

Saw on line today Carlos Marin, one of the group Il Divo has died due to Covid . He was only 53. I have several of their CDs and a dvd . Very sad.

Need to get a move on and do some h/w . Take care all.

Hello all
Well as I dont sleep that well, i tend not to get up until just before 9am. The phone rang at 9.10 today and it was a physio telling me she was on her way to do a home visit for my assessment. eeeeek.!!!

Put me all in a tizzy trying to get dressed and make my bed etc all in 30 mins.

Anyway she came and was very thorough, gave me some tips to keep my left foot moving and improve circulation. She looked at my bathroom too to see if there was anything that would assist me. All in all, she was here an hour and very helpful.

She said she would be in touch beg of new year but i could ring in between if i needed to.

On the downside she told me MRI brain scans, even urgent ones are taking around 6 months!!! Non urgent up to a year because the Neurologist is fully booked months in advance.

Anyway, I soldier on. I stripped my bed and ironed all that needed doing so resting now. Tomorrow making my xmas cake and cant wait as I enjoy that.

Trying to live on light food so i can enjoy the feast on Saturday. Toast & cornflakes is on the menu for tea lol.

Hope everyone else is ok.Very damp again and getting foggy and still no wind!

Stay safe
