A 2nd cousin sent me 2 paper cuttings in an email today.

My maternal grandfather at 15 was in court because he was gambling. Always did follow the horses :-( and was a bookies runner when it was illegal.

The second cutting was him at 20 being awarded a commendation for him and his cousin jumping into the canal to save 2 young boys :-0

He was a drinker and gambler - my father refused to give him money at Christmas - he got him cigarettes and gave gran money in secret. :-S
