Road closures :-P
Did a big shop last week ready for this week. Cancelled coffee meet because that road would be closed for two days before the other road would be closed for three, because of that one daughter and I both cancelled our hair appointments.

Ha ha on me. No updates. Hopefully the second will be done this afternoon( vehicles there and ready) and the first tomorrow.

The third route out of the village now has traffic lights causing problems.

Patronising message on parish council websites tells us to go out and read the individual boards. Why - when they weren’t telling the truth previously.

Oh how I wish someone would come canvassing to the door - what an earful they would get.

People on here who can find their way to the message boards to post a request, but are apparently totally incapable of finding their way back

Being asked if I'm Mrs or Miss by form fillers :-|
i thought discrimination against women was, if not illegal, then some 40 years past it's 'none of your b business' date :-|

Oh and people who put a 'd' in pigeon :-D :-D

But honestly, I don't let much annoy me, most isn't worth the energy :-)

ZZzzz Report 29 Jun 2024 21:51

Us women don't have to be known or referred to by our married name so when I'm filling out a form I put my maiden name and the date of my marriage, it confuses them and probably they throw my form in the bin. LOL.

I forgot my latest annoyance, I wonder if any of you have noticed this?

When we generally talk, we effectively have punctuation in our speech. So we finish a sentence, breathe in, and start the next sentence. We even pause momentarily to signify a comma.

Just lately we have had a series of news reporters who run one sentence into the next without even pausing, and stop to breathe in halfway through a sentence. There is one who is much worse than the others, and a couple of nights ago she stopped to take a breath in the middle of a word! How can a professional reporter think this is right, and why hasn't a professional producer pointed it out to her? It really irritates me, I can't help myself.

Rudeness in men. Especially the man who poked me in the back because I wasn't going through the Tube barrier fast enough for him. Well done Son. Your Mother must be proud of you. :-|

Everyone is devastated or traumatised over the most tiddling things. No. Being told you have 3 months to live is devastating or traumatising. Not chipping your nail polish. :-D :-D

I spoke too soon...

Once again!!!

"Sorry, we're having trouble continuing your Genes Reunited membership.

The reason we can't continue your membership automatically as you requested is probably because your card has changed or expired."

My card hasn't changed or expired!!! Nor had it last year!
Now I have to waste my time jumping through hoops.
Even for 8.96 is it actually worth it?

Oh I forgot these bug bears:

In my hotel room, the sound of children running round and round the room directly above me at 11-12pm when I am trying to sleep!!

Waiting in a phone queue for 45 minutes with unbearable music playing and then getting cut off!!.

No rhyme or reason Names.
They've always been a ramshackle set up since Estelle and Phil left.

Oh 'business' phone calls, after waiting, eventually you get a 'menu' :-| this is where I say repeatedly 'I wish to speak to a person' sometimes that works, sometimes the response is 'sorry, I didn't quite catch that' either way the result is a person who has learned English but not how to speak it!!! This is bad at the best of times but when I had to speak to non gov. companies following the death of my partner it was soul destroying. Communication is in the most appalling state these days.

Here's another that's just come to my attention - I'm on a roll now :-D

"To continue your membership, grab your credit or debit card and go to our secure payment page."

'Grab your credit card' Ugh, lack of professionalism really irks me - are they trying to sound hip?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 30 Jun 2024 23:56

I agree about the use of the aggressive word "grab" when what is meant is simply "take" or "pick up" or similar.

Recipes, for instance, misuse the word frequently nowadays -
"Grab an onion."
"Grab a frying pan".
