Did you see the opening ceremony of the Olympics?

It poured (other words are available !) with rain.
There was a half-nude smurf.

Celine Dion was magnificent and the caldron spectacular.

Enjoy the Olympics!

First Team GB Medal of the Games....a bronze for women"s 3m syncronized diving...well done, girls :-D :-D

First woman's diving medal in 64 years :-0 :-D

Well done the GB divers <3

After a very slow and in my opinion boring first hour of the opening…things did improve.

The Highlights for me were the galloping horse, Celine Dion and Juliette Armanet singing John Lennon’s “Imagine”

The eventual lighting of the flame was not too shabby either :-D :-D

However Tis a wonder some of the athletes are not down with flu….they must have been out in that horrendous weather for more hours than we were privy to

There were bits that were good but it was so bitty :-0

The automated horse was good but did we really need to watch it gallop 6km on the Seine :-0

It was ambitious but I don't think it quite paid off, still think it would have been better in a Stadium :-)

I agree Belle….everything seemed too stretched out…..more about showcasing France than the Athletes I thought.

And the rain is still relentless :-0

Thought Lady Gaga was doing a rip off Marilyn Monroe, Diamonds. :-0

That poor pianist with the rain pouring down on him, and the athletes must have been soaked. :-( :-(

Well done to the diving girls, have yet to see it, as have been a Domestic Goddess this morning.....................ironing. I must be potty :-D :-D

I must confess to falling asleep while watching the opening ceremony. :-0

I did see quite a lot of it, but couldn't hear properly and had had a busy day, but hope to watch some of the coming events.
Good news about the diving, well done girls. I'll have to catch up with that later.

A silver medal in the women’s time trials for Anna Henderson of GB :-D :-D <3

Yeaaaaah.....first time since 1980 that Team GB has won two medals on the opening day :-D <3

So that's Bronze, Silver....could the next medal be GOLD :-D
