McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 9 Feb 2007 20:47

Well personally i think Yes ............ But unfortunately many are superficial enough not to realise that

Lorraine Report 9 Feb 2007 20:49

think you go on looks first - cos without them how could you get to know someones personality however for it to last you need a partner with a good personality - couldnt imagine being with a boring man or for that matter someone with an over bearing personality - suppose it depends on what your own personality is - guess i just got lucky lol

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 9 Feb 2007 20:55

Gwynne lol Now you know I didn't mean it like that lol You know me - not backwards in coming forwards re oggling a hunky fella. What I meant was that many of us don't even get a first glance let alone a second glance - just because we are not stunning looking ........... doesn't mean we aren't beautiful on the inside tho xxx

Haribo Report 9 Feb 2007 20:56

I agree Gwynne. For me, there has to initially be a physical attraction otherwise I wouldn't be viewing him as a possible partner, no matter how good his personality was.

Mags Report 9 Feb 2007 20:56

Over a period of time I would say most definitely. A silly but good example is the Comedy Friends. The first episode I watched and thought oh I quite fancy that Joey bloke, great looking, By the last show I found Joey completely not attractive cos of his stupidity and Chandler who I initially thought yuck had grown on me cos of his wit.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 9 Feb 2007 20:57

I guess that makes me superficial then .................... lol A bloke may have the best personality in the world but if I didn't find him physically attractive from the start it wouldn't be going anywhere. My dating days are long behind me but I think I'd still be the same. There has to be a spark before the flame can develop. Gwynne

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 9 Feb 2007 21:01

Well I do have to say tho, the guys I have been out with - and there haven't been many lol ............ have all been friends initially and at that stage I was not attracted physically to them, nor looking at them as a potential partner - but over time as I got to know them better, feelings grew and relationships developed. What I meant by my initial comment is that - in my experience - many guys don't even entertain getting to know you because they are 'judging the book by it's cover'...........

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Feb 2007 21:04

Difficult one. I think there has to be something pleasant looking about a man but I wouldn't trust one who was smarmy good looking. Can't stand all the self admiration as they pass a mirror. I would say personally that he would have to have nice eyes, not shifty. But a pleasant smile, an infectious laugh, a sense of humour and a kind nature is more important. maybe the nice looks attract first, then you judge by personality. Or, maybe if you are friends with somebody who is not particularly nice looking the relationship grows because of personality. Ann Glos

Sally Moonchild Report 9 Feb 2007 21:07

I think that people with good personalities always tend to look good anyway... ..I think because they are so full of life and animated, people get drawn to them, and if you thought they were not good looking, you would forget that.....the personality takes over......

Lisa

Lisa Report 9 Feb 2007 21:07

Baz do you prefer a women with personality rather than looks...always wondered whether it is different for men...they like leggy women rather than voluptious women...i don't think men see past that...am i wrong??xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(((((:

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 9 Feb 2007 21:12

The most attractive woman I ever knew was a dumpy 32 year old bottle blonde, with a navy blue parting and varicose veins. She had such a fantastic personality that the men fell over each other to get at her. The love of my life had a face like a bag of spanners, but had such a great personality, that I came to think him the most good-looking man on earth. OC
