I like to read books by Ruth Hamilton, Joan Jonker and Lynn Andrews, they are mostly stories of old Lancashire. Can't get enough of them. Jeff x

I am a James Herbert Fan too, in fact i can never wait for them to come out in paperback and have to but the hardback. I am another one who cant seem to get on with Stephen King either. Now Dick francis... theres another one.. being a little young for when he strted writing, i had to scour old bookshops etc to find all his earlier books... then when i had caught up started buying the hardbacks as they came out.. one year he came to Chester to do a book signing and i met him and had my book signed... i was soo chuffed. I think i have all his books now, but its a little tricky remembering all his titles as they very often are one word! and i forget :)) For people that like WW2 life Helen Forrester wrote a brilliant series about life asa a girl during the war.. very easy reading and very true to life. But my all time favorite has to be Gerald Durrell... i got mesmerised by him when i had to read My Family And Other Animals for my O Level, and for years i wanted to go and live in Corfu in a Pink Villa ! lol I love Autobiographies too... one of the best was Ricky Tomlisons.. a fantastic read and insight into the hardship years of the coalminers strike.. yes yes ok... i like books! lol

I read anywhere but always read when I get into bed. Trouble is I get so engrossed in a book I can't seem to put it down! I have nearly finished Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code and then have Secrets of the Code by Dan Burstein and Cracking the Da Vinci Code by Simon Cox to read. I am probably the only person who hadn't read The Da Vinci Code ... I'm always late!!! Viv

I can't go to sleep without reading in bed, renowned for waking up at 3am with lamp on and book still in my hand!! This means I have to wait for things coming out in paperback as I have nearly given myself black eye with hardback LOL!! Currently reading Karin Slaughter - A faint cold heart but hoping to finish for Christmas as know I am getting some Tess Gerritson books - fab if you like murdery type books! (Probably will be finished as it is pretty good!)

Reggie.....I've got to agree with you again about Robert Goddard. He's one of my favourites too. I've got Never Go Back on the bookshelf waiting for me. I don't think I could pick a favourite....they're all good. Mazzy......It's very good isn't it. Why did it take us so long to get round to chosing it! This is why I find I'm getting a liking for these sort of books. I'm learning a bit of history in an entertaining way June....Merry Christmas to you and yours too xxx

Hi Jeanette Due to the ME affecting my concentration, I can only manage 'chick lit' nowadays. Still, better to read light stuff than not read at all lol - and we're all bookworms in this house. I really like all the Irish authors, and just reading 'My Fabulous Divorce' by Clare Dowling. Also like Bill Bryson and hoping that Santa will bring me his latest, along with Peter Kay's autobiography. Mandy :)

One of my favourite authors is Frederick Forsyth, and another is Robert Goddard. His 'Past Caring' is one of the best books I have ever read. Reg

Like to read anywhere where I can't hear a tv or someone else's noise, which in this house would be a miracle. Reading Atonement by Ian McEwan and shall then move on to Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky and the umpteen other books on my bedside table. Should be a few under the tree too! Daisy

Hi Jeanette :-)) Like you and Ann I am reading The Other Boleyn Girl at the moment. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and really enjoying it - I can't believe it all happened actually and she has been completely forgotten. She is just getting involve with William, so I am desperate to know how it comes out. I always read in bed every night - even if only for 10 mins and even if I come in really really late! Jean - I am getting that for Xmas (I hope!) Joy - I reread all the Narnia books last year, I loved them from when I was young and they are just as good now. Charlotte read them after me and Jamie is starting on them now. I have also read all the Harry Potters - at least twice! Maz. XX

Reading Murphy's Boy by Torey Haydon - she is a special needs teacher and psychologist who writes about some of the children she has worked with. Some of the book are quite harrowing but they are also really interesting. I read in bed or curled up in the armchair when all the jobs are done! Kate
