He is a very kind man, as well as having been an oncologist for the last 7 years. Although we have to wait for the CT scan to confirm it for sure, he is 90% certain that the cancer has returned. We will soon start to have nurses in more regularly, and Mum will be given some palliative treatment. He has advised me not to bother moving house because, due to the average time that house moves take, it will be too late. I know that this happens, it’s life, and I know that my situation is no different than that of many of you. All I’m asking for, please, is for any prayers and positive thoughts that you can spare for my Mum, because I don’t want her to suffer and want her to be as comfortable as possible. Thank you all for your kindness, Mandy x |

Its hard I know, but speaking from current experience try to cherish the time you have rather than mourn the time you don't have. You can mourn later but for now you have to live and love with your mum. Angela |

Sorry to hear that the prognosis for your mum is not good, I will be thinking of you. I think the worst thing about getting older ourselves is that we know our parents are getting even older (mine will both be 80 this year). Hope you can try to enjoy the time you've got left with them, that's what I intend to do. Carolyn |

Thank you so much. I know that I'm very fortunate in that Mum has seen me into my 40s, and also seen her only grandchild right through from babyhood to almost 18. His only wish is that she is still able to celebrate his 18th birthday in October. I'm also so very glad that I gave up work, because now I can visit her every day. Love Mandy x |

Had the same thing with my Mum who died 3 years ago aged 85 from breast cancer. We had many lovely times together through the years but one of my best memories is the week before she died, on a beautiful spring day, my hubbie and I took her, in her wheelchair, to a restaurant in Hall Place in Bexley and she had a little bit of a prawn sandwich and a gin and tonic and we looked in the greenhouses and she had such a lovely couple of hours. Enjoy her. You can be sad when she has gone. Love Linda xx |
