Felicity Report 9 May 2006 22:40

Paul, I don't object to the advertising as such, but I do object to flashing and so on that makes me ill to the point that I can't use the site I've subscribed to and a site that acts like a parasite on my whole system causing it to grind to a halt with alarming regularity. Those two things will eventually lead me to not use the site at all. I can't believe I'm the only one and if enough people are affected this way they'll soon have to resolve things or have no subscribers.

Add me to your list............I find the constant flickering very intrusive. And the 'what's on ITV' is usually hours out of date. Reg

I fail to see how the upkeep of this site costs more now that we have adverts than it did previously, there are many more members than previous too so that means more money in the coffers. I do not believe that the money made from the adverts is being pumped into the site to make it better.

Trifley Report 10 May 2006 01:19

PLEASE PUT MY NAME ON THE LIST! Sorry for shouting like that but I'm sick of the b****Y pop-ups. I pay to use this site......if it were free I would put up with the ads. Surely ITV is not that strapped for cash that it has to get in extra funds to run this site. Thanks Dianne (Trifley of the Wattle club)

Lewella Report 10 May 2006 01:22

Hi all, you can block the ads by going to Tools, Internet Options, Security, Internest Custom Levels and put on High. You still get the TV listings on the right, but all the other 'muck' disappears. Lew Lew xxx

I'm like Lew - have mine set on high and all I get is an ITV link on the side but it doesn't flash - I don't even notice it. Anna

yes too many. Do any of these ads have spyware involved?

Lee

Lee Report 10 May 2006 06:29

some of you or all of you may already know this little trick that i have found on my puta, it works for me anyway. click favourites. your list appears, put cursor on dividing line between main page and favourites, double ended arrow appears, now left click and drag dividing line to the right, this will obscure all adds on right of your screen. this may not work on all putas

Guinevere Report 10 May 2006 07:00

They are annoying. I have a pop up blocker which blocks the worst of them but have to keep my favourites menu on the right of the screen to shift it sideways to avoid the ads down the right hand side. I expect to get lots of ads on free sites but I do not expect intrusive ads on sites I pay for. Especially not to the extent that they are on here. The other sites I pay for do not have such annoying ads. My OH and son can confirm what Felicty says about the site leeching memory as well. So sign me up, Gwynne

Breezy Report 10 May 2006 07:12

Hi Maid, I would like to point out, that there are a number of ways of getting onto GR, the one I use, has no flickering Ads, still has the still ads down the righthand side, but thats okay with me, go into google and try a different web site, that comes up with the same GR, until you find the one with no flickering adverts, thats what I did, very restful.
