Huia and Shelia, you are in good company, seems there are a lot of us having problems ;-))

I have trouble too, although I don't think I have a particularly difficult shape to fit - general size 10-12 top and bottom, and on the short side! Trousers lately seem to be a nightmare, even in shops where I could always rely on a good fit. I'm either floating around in yards of material made for someone about 9ft tall (with no waist and skinny hips) or I can't get them past me knees! I've found some catalogues such as Wrap are much more consistent with size (and they do shorter lengths).

Reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that a woman-hater is responsible for all the shop windows and changing room mirrors. They are designed to make us look miles fatter and dumpier than we are. (Yeah, right as one of our beer ads says). I gave up wearing dresses years ago, wear separates with the top outside the skirt/slacks as I have a (comparatively) small waist which accentuates my big boobs and hips. It is a real b....r.

It's cheered me up to know I am not the only one having problems I looked at all these elegant people 'lunching' in Bluewater and felt a real misfit, but seems others feel the same when they look for clothes Thank you everyone, Dee ;-))

Hi Linda, seems Debenhams might be the place, just been looking at some of their stuff online, thanks to a little guidance from my personal advisor , the one and only Bec. Did find a label called Dash once that seemed to suit my style and pocket, and fitted, but not seen it around recently ;-))

Reading this thread makes me wonder if there are actually any 'average' people around? i am 5'2/5'3 ish, size 16. Problem is that I can still remember being sizes 10 then 12 then 14 and it has all crept up on me. I still see myself as a slim person until I get into the changing room when I see this short chunky person with a large tum! I tend to stick to M&S and mainly trousers, boot leg are best but they seem not to do many in that now and wide leg are not very good on me. Luckily my legs are longish in proportion to my body. I wear everything, blouses, tops, T shirts outside the trousers and occasionally skirts but I cn still see that tummy! And diets don't seem to lose the weight where I want it to. Oh yes have a 38C top too. Oh well not to worry I am mostly healthy so that is something to be grateful for. Ann Glos

Dee have some vouchers for M & S here and can I find anything that I like NO. Walked past a shop yesterday and caught a glimse of my reflection what a massive backside I have. Then to add insult today was in car with hubby and a woman crossed road who was smartly dressed, comment was wish my old lady would dress like that instead of in frumpy trousers and t shirts. Shall we have a GR shopping trip

Try Dorothy Perkins or New Look - they are really good.
