Dee Well it is fascinating stuff. I wish I had something that interesting in my family. The best I have is a mysterious death and a few children born out of wedlock- LOL! Lynne

I want to know how true the statement made by Fellowes at the start of the programme was 'It was a strong Methodist neighbourhood, with an Amish-like atmosphere'. My ancestors came from there at about the same time (and earlier), yet my g grandmother suddenly appears in the 1891 census in Bournemouth and my gg grandparents have a grandchild living with them!! G grandmother then moves to Southampton with a bloke she meets in Bournemouth and proceeds to have 9 children out of wedlock (by the same man)................. Maybe we weren't of the strong Methodist type :0 l maggie

Rose was my great great Aunt, on my dad's side. I have a fair bit of her tree, but would love more details if anyone has any.
Karen.

This thread is now 10 years old ................ I doubt whether most of the posters are still active.

May I suggest that you Search All Member trees to see if anyone has Rose, and then send a pm to them.

There could be a report in the British Newspaper Archives?

If you don't have access on this site or Findmypast, it is possible to search for free.

Copy and paste the free preview and someone with the relevant sub can look at the original.

Thanks. There are newspaper reports, TV programs, books, and I do have access to subscription sites.
Really, I was just registering my interest in Rose, in case anyone comes looking, and has anything further to share.

From what I have read in this thread, the original posters did not have Rose in their tree, they just had an interest after watching the program.

Thanks for your input. :)

In that case, other than searching all members trees for contacts, make sure that GR always has your up-to-date email address.

That way, if another descendent/relative stumbles on this thread in the future, they can contact you by clicking on your name. Even lapsed members can receive and reply to personal messages ;-)
