Find Ancestors

trying without any sucess to find my nan violet alice burns (was told x2 brothers billy and bobby, sure from north east as is all our family but not sure exactly where durham or northumberland i think. Married my grandad richard george leonard (dont know date) he was born 1891...so guess shes about same dob as him .gratefull for any help

no nans maiden name was burns .violet alice burns. yes that was grandads family have that information thanks.Is nan im really stuck on makes it harder not having date of birth .

do you know when your nan died please. Ancestry gives the date of birth for some deaths.
Another option when was your parent born that was the son or daughter of your nan. That will give her maiden name on that record. Irene

she died approx 1974 give or take a year ...and her maiden name is definatly burns .is on my dads birth certificate.

searched 1911 census but does not show any Violet Alice Burns but quite a few Voilet Burns with both spellings. Irene

3 births registered at that time for just Violet Burns which helps a bit if you check out those in the 1901 census - there maybe some family names that are used on the children of your Nan. Good luck Irene

I can't find a birth to match the date of birth given on the death record above, although dates of birth on death certificates are often wrong as it depends on the informant's knowledge.

yes irene that sounds like my nan ..i.remember i was approx 10 so fits and yes she died in c cleveland hospital so was probabbly registered death there.
