hi all can sum one help me am looking for my grandad cornlius simmons he was marred to phylls hendrickson all i no is my grandad is from turks and calcos just want to no were to look all i no is he dead in cardiff thanks for you help ?

The marriage cert. will give you his age, so you can work out his date of birth, and his father's name and occupation which should help find other info.

how will i do that work out the age of him ?

i no that but i need to no about my grandads side ?

The marriage certificate will give you his age at the time of the marriage. The marriage took place in 1937, so if you take his age at the time of the marriage away from the date, it will give you his date of birth.

(for example:- if he was 27 yrs old when he married, then 1937 - 27 = 1910. ) This may be a year out depending on the month he was born and the month he was married so should be taken as a guide but it is a good indication.

His death certificate may also be able to help find his date of birth. Do you know when he died?

i think in the 1970s but i cannot find his death certificate on here ? are do i need to ring cardiff

My subscription to Ancestry has run out but there is a death of a Cornelius Simmons in Glamorganshire in 1968.

Perhaps someone else can look up this record for you.

If this is the correct death record then his birth was around 1897 give or take a couple of years. Do you know if there was a big difference in their ages?

all i no is he is from turks and calcos and my nana phyllis died in the 1980s in cardiff and i think about 4 to 6 yes in it ?

The Turks and Caicos Islands were formerly part of the British West Indies so this could very well confirm the date he went from the islands to the states prior to coming to the UK. However I don't have access to the site to check the detials.

The first thing to do is to buy the marriage cert. to make sure of his date of birth and to find out the name of his father. The more info you have the better chance of finding the correct birth.
