Find Ancestors

Trying to find Angus Dale, father of Queenie R. Dale. Daughter born in Glasgow c 1899. Father born at a guess approx 1875. Angus is quoted on marriage cert of daughter as a Merchant seaman, this maybe why cannot find on a census. His wife MAY have been called Rose. Dont know if there were any other children.

Scottish birth certs give more details than the English ones such as date of parents marriage

Yes have tried Scottish Credits but no joy, even Queenie does not show up, we suspect her age on death cert was not right. Now waiting for 1911 census for Scotland.. Thought we might find more info through her parents Angus.
Yes she moves to England and marries L. McQuiggan. She has 1 son, returns to Scotland to have second son, then returns to England. Not sure what happened to husband in Southport.

What does her middle initial stand for?

There are only 5 Queenies born in Glasgow City between 1897 and 1903 - none with the surname Dale.

There are no entries on the census records on Ancestry for an Angus Dale even as a child.

Where did she die please? Had she remarried?

Not getting any matches on SP for a marriage in the name of Angus Dale

There aren't many "Scottish" Queenies but there are another couple on the 1901 census in Glasgow a bit nearer the correct birth year but with the wrong surname!

Hi, Thanks for replies. Queenie married again in Bristol to a T. Henry Exon and had 3 further children plus 2 step children. She died in Blackpool approx 1968/9. Her birth place on marriage cert and death say Glasgow, Father Angus Dale merchant seaman (Dec). Her eldest boy was brought up (so it was said) by grandparents in Glasgow boy called Lawrence McQuiggan from 1st marriage). My nephew has traced this boy and he died in 1946 his widow stating his Mother was called Rose and was deceased (when she wasn't) - we think he looked upon his grandparents as parents and grandmother was called Rose. Queenies middle name was Rubella. Her second son(my brother-in-law) born in Scotland is still alive and his family and myself are trying to find this family that is in Scotland. Hope all this is undetstandable! Thanks

I am wondering if Queenie's mother had remarried and Queenie took her stepfather's surname?

Have not seen Lawrence McQuiggans marriage cert only his deaht cert. I would assume he got married in Scotland. On the death cert his Mother is called Rose that she was deceased (She died 1988) (he died 1945) was in the army. His wife Sarah Orr Miller gave the name Rose as his Mothers name.
Yes t is a possibilty that Queenies mother remarried. She was always secret about her past only to say she came from a good background and wore nice clothes! In this more enlighted world her grandchildren are trying toget a tree together of their ancestors. We do know she had different dates on two marriage and death cert.

Good idea to get hold of Lawrence McQuiggand marriage cert- that might give us a clue.

It is possible that it was Lawrence himself who gave the information on the marriage certificate, so I am just wondering if there was even a slight difference in the info. Not sure that it will help though but is worth a try.
