Find Ancestors

I seem to have come to a dead end in tracing relatives on the Leitch & Robertson side of my family.
My Great Grandmother was Catherine Mary Leitch Born in Muthill, Perth in 1883 and Dscd Abt.1974. her parents according to her birth cert. were John Leitch & Helen Robertson, however, I have so far been unable to trace any info on them. Any help would be appreciated!

I can't thank you enough for the information, it will definately assist me with my research. I see one thing that has possibly caused me confusion in my search and that is the name variant between Helen Robertson & Ellen Robertson!

Hi Emma
Please don't worry about the variant spelling of names --Helen--Ellen and even Nellie, Nelly were not unusual for Helen.

I have now put the Occupation and where born on the 1891 and 1901 census --hope this helps a bit --John seems to have not only "aged" a few years between 1891 and 1901 (from 40 to 54 ) but also changed his occupation.
Also has no Lizzie on 1891-but has a William and vice versa on 1901 !!

All other things seem to fit--but if you think they are the wrong family I will take another look.

Ah wonder if this is William in 1901 ??? not sure of though

This information is fantastic, thank you so much!

I checked out the marriage cert. on Scotlands People for John Leitch & Ellen Robertson and it shows Thomas Leitch as being the reputed father of Magdalene Cameron's child (John Leitch) but on digging further, the only census I have come up with is for 30/03/1851 Fowlis Wester, I think this may have the correct Thomas Leitch (Age 50) and it also has a John Leitch (Age 2) but I cannot find any census records which have a Magdalene Cameron & John Leitch in the same household, and so far I've been unable to pinpoint a potential Magdalene Cameron who would fit the right age range.
I must admit I am still very much a novice in trying to put some of this information together when I find records. Maybe you might be able to point me in the right direction with that one?

I wonder if Magdalene was the Margaret as in the 1891 census where "Lizzie" was granddaughter ?? What do you think ?

I have tried.....without success... to find the Thomas and Margaret from 1891 census on other census records

I don't think Thomas, 58 in 1891 and Margaret, 45, in 1891 can be the parents of John, 50 in 1891.
