On which census do you have her in the work house Samantha?

Samantha

Samantha Report 12 Jul 2010 12:37

Its all very confusing, because she was in the stanford rivers workhouse in ongar as widowed in 1884 I believe. She was only in the 30's. My gt gt nan elizabeth brewer had fanny hedge on her birth certificate, so where did the brewer name come from?

Thank you for your help :)

What year was your gt gt nan Elizabeth born please?

Samantha

Samantha Report 12 Jul 2010 12:42

Elizabeth was born 1885 at this workhouse according to her birth certificate. Fanny Hedge is shown but not a father! Thank you x

I will have anothr look Samantha..but I think there is a discrepancy with dates here.... if Fanny gave birth to Eliz' in 1885 and you think she was in her 30s...then she cant have been married that early... ?

Samantha

Samantha Report 12 Jul 2010 13:03

Thank you so much. I have been completely baffled by this for years. Elizabeth was definately born 1884/1885 to a Fanny Hedge who was living at stanford rivers workhouse, listed as widowed in 1881!! How strange.

Thank you for this.

I assume they are her children, Elizabeth my gt gt nan however was born after in 1885. So I am not sure who her father was? Mystery x

Sorry Samantha, as the father's name is not on the birth cert there is no way of knowing,
