How did you arrive at Martin, Do you have other info regarding siblings children etc,? Or is he a spouse of someone in your tree? I have looked for anything related to Martin and born Stepney but I have not come up with obvious links, Why do you think he may have married in Ireland. I think you know more than you are telling. Christine this is all I know. Martin WELBROK arrived in Canterbury New Zealand in 1872 at the age of 19 on the "Pleiades" from London listed as a sugar baker. In 1877 he sailed to Invercargill and was known as Wellbrook or Wellbrock. He married in 1882 . His marriage cert says Martin Wellbrock and descendants are all Wellbrocks. His father is listed as Martin and mother Mary

Yes trying to research Martin spelt WeLLbrock but the name is also listed in the Genes Reunited records as Wellbrook, so it becomes very confusing.
Stepney because I thought I would start in the early 1880's and find someone connected to the sugar bakers and came across martin wellbrock also spelt wellbrook born 1801 in Germany. Our ancestors are German and work from there. Ireland because there was thought in the family that she was Irish. probably wrong though
