Trying to find birthplace of john rafferty,his father was william and john was born approx 1843,married in belfast 1866 to mary hennity and had three sons william john,daniel,joseph and a daughter sarah.John was a guilder and carver.Daniel was my grandfather and moved to england as did william john. Daniel married sarah claypole and they lived in carlisle. Any information on this family tree please.

Yes this is the family. I dont think the death of john rafferty is my great grandfather as I have a marriage certificate for william john rafferty(son of the above) dated 1914 which states father john rafferty,gilder and carver retired. When I asked my dad years ago if he ever met his grandfather he said only once. Dad was born in 1914 so john must have died after this date. Any other ideas as to finding his birthplace or even brothers or sisters.There is an entry in the 1911 n.ireland census for a john kafferty which gives where born but I cant really make it out. The information does add up,the age doesnt seem right but the other names are related. Thanks for all your help.

Yes or could have been third. William Johns great grand-daughter was in touch with me ages ago and said in the family it was thought that william had married in ireland and maybe walked out on his first wife but I couldnt find any record of a previous marriage. Jane

There is an entry in the 1911 census for a Mary Rafferty and a Catherine Hennetty and I think these could be Johns wife and sister in law. Can you read the bit where it says where born.They both look like co.down but I have never heard of these townlands and cant find the hennitys anywhere either.
