Yes this is another mystery. Margaret Rafferty married Peter Morrison in Feb 1901. In a civl marriage states his age as 22 and hers as 21.Child Christina born in March same year. On the 1901 census Margaret and Christina are living with Catherine Hennety at 11 cooke st(cromac, antrim) and she is now 19,then in 1907 she marries skilleterOct 8 1907,newcastle on tyne and I think the age of them both is 26(not very clear),then on 1911 census Margaret and Magdalen(daughter) skilleter are visiting Catherine Hennety at 27 little may st belfast and the age stated is 25. I have been trying to find Margarets birth as it states on the census she was born in Newcastle on tyne but cant tie in the dates. I thought it would tell me how she was related to John Rafferty. On both her marriages to peter robinson and frederick skilleter it says her father is john rafferty, carver on the 1901 marriage and carver and gilder (journeyman) on the 1907 certificate,But it couldnt be my great grandfather as on the census its says niece. Perhaps someone not so close can see the connection. Jane

Jane...i did see that one for Margaret Morrison and wondered if she'd been married twice....that one did connect to Fred S.plenty Rafferty's around Ncle.but like you i cannot find a Margaret to fit even expanding the date of Birth...
What census have you that states Niece..?

Jane...Have located Margaret's Baptism... 14 Feb 1875...at St Mary's Clayton St.Ncle.
Parents..Joannis Rafferty
Marie Hennethy

Have looked at the 1901 Census and it says Margaret is Niece..."to the head of the Household"..which is Catherine Hennety not John Kafferty....

Thank you so much, my only problem now is the ages stated on the census forms. Where can I look up to see if there are anymore births as my dad said there were other children(although he also said his grandfather was daniel when in fact he was John) Also on the 1911 census Mary rafferty states to have had 4 children and 4 alive. I have counted these 4 without Margaret. Are these things ever reconciled.

Hi Jane, Ellie and Maura - just seen this thread. I am William John's great grandaughter and am still trying to track the elusive previous marriages William is believed to have had. I have come accross a census in 1901 at
43 Moyola St, Antrim. It shows William John Rafferty with a wife Mary Jane Okane. Can anyone shed any light? is this The William John of this thread?

PS - Jane, I will email and catch up. x
