yes this is the right marriage....but i think Elizabeth Judge who had Walter in 1874 might have been married to A judge and assuming she was a Hall?? she died in 1882 when she was married to John French

It all leads back to Allens, doesn't it?

Many Judges on the 1871 census have a connection to Ireland. There's 13 living in Walsall in 1871; 7 born Ireland, the rest born Walsall. No Bernard.

So looks like we are looking at a mistranscription of Bernard as in Barnett Judge

I wonder if there is a death just to be sure of him in the Tamworth area between say 1875 and his wife remarried in 1879 so say 1878

Hi Nicki,
there is just one more request....
I've come across a Charles French born 1869 Milcomb Oxford ( the same place as John) and i originally thought he maybe a possible nephew..but as we have been going through all this it looks like John French lived with his mother Ann and another family and had no siblings for Charles to be a Nephew...why i ask is that Charles French is born the same place as John and he too has a Daughter called Bertha born 1890 in Tamworth...so rather a coincedience.....so to get to the point please would you have alook at the 1881 census for Charles i know you can't check the 1901 census...and i would love to know what connection to John he is...here's the info i have on him...

There will be far cleverer people on here who can solve that for you, I am afraid it is not me.

I do know there are not two births for a Bertha though in 1890 in Tamworth only the following -

You may have to start ordering certs to unravel all of this.

Thanks Nicki for all your time and help....you have given me plenty to go on and it's very much appreciated...to tie this family together as i'm sure they are connected i will probably need to be looking at the 1851 census for David and 1841 for his parents as it could be another generation back....but i will concentrate on this lot for now
