Thanks for that. It was so obvious that I missed it.
There is a Barbara Greener of similar age on the 1881 census, but she is the grandaughter.
Barbara b1867, is not with her father in 1881.

This Barbara is not included in any of my earlier research or sharing of trees, so I guess I was not looking for her. In addition some trees have the grandaughter as Barbara Richardson......I wonder!

Back to the drawing board, I'm afraid a couple of queries have arisen.

I would be grateful for full census information for the 1841, 1851 and 1871 returns recently provided on this thread.
Please include relationship, occupation and place of birth.

In the 1841 census for the Thirlaway family it shows Margaret as 50.
I gather it should be 30. She's the eldest daughter.

In the 1871 census for the Richardson family, I gather that 3 year old Barbara is the grandaughter, not the daughter, as presumed since the relationship is not on the thread.

Confirmation of this will widen the period for the death of Barbara Richardson nee Thirlaway, to 1864 - 1871, once again.

I disagree with the 1851 census as posted for Barbara Richardson. William Hann is a visitor and Dorthy Hann is wife of visitor not wife's sister.

41 census doesn't give much info, no relationships and ages of those over 15 are rounded down to nearest 5 or 0.

There's a ditto mark under occupation for Margaret signifying that she was a coal miner. I doubt it but...

Agreed, Sylvia. Hard to imagine though, isn't it, in the 1840's?

It is indeed ......... especially as some of the books I've read say that the women's job was to pull carts underground
