Pamela.
Such a relief for you that your dad was able to confirm our findings.
You will have to treasure those drawings of Robert as they are your other" proof"

Good !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sort of a discovery can be very 'upseting' for some people.

You are obviously O.K. with it !!

Enjoy the adventure into your 'new family name'

Dea

Dea Report 29 Jun 2008 16:51

Just don't worry about it - remember what I said - 'You are who you are' !! - One letter in a name creates a little interest but no reason to feel insecure!!!

very interesting! it will take some getting used to knowing all your ancesters had a slightly different name than you thought.

Dea

Dea Report 29 Jun 2008 16:39

Well,

It looks as though you all have a new name!!

Does that mean that all your births and marriages are 'null and void' ??

Don't worry - names have always changed over the years - you are who you are (but you are really a Warrent!!)

HEY! - what's a 't' between friends?

bighen

bighen Report 29 Jun 2008 13:20

no it couldnt have been my dad as his dad robert is warren pam

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 29 Jun 2008 13:17

Pam.
I think your name has changed to Warren. Its more common than you think. My gt grandfather after he married started using his grandfathers name. His grandparents never married. My gt grand then registered all his children with the new name including my grandmother.
Technically you could say gran had the wrong name but that was her given name Her 8 brothers and sisters all have the same surname

Hi Pam

I have deleted my posts with the wrong family on them.

I agree with Jenna that Warrant is correct family. It often happens that names change down the years.

I have one line that began as McLay but is now McLean

JenW

JenW Report 29 Jun 2008 13:11

pam,

it's definitely the correct family. i'd just assume the name changed over the generations. Do you have your father's birth certificate? It may be that he changed the spelling.

this is all confusing.some of it could make sense.samuel was a gardener, robert was a shoe finisher.my dad is roberts son,his name is bertie which was his mums brothers name.he had a brother robert and a sister rose both of which are in the warrent family.i think back then they carried names over to the next generation.but the name warrent is puzzeling me.i was a warren,my dad is a warren.roberts marriage cert he is warren.if it is the same family and the name got changed is there a way to find out how .andrew found warrent when i was first searching but i dissmissed it as my maiden name was warren.your all brilliant for finding this out.how do i move on? pam
