it's definitely the correct family. i'd just assume the name changed over the generations. Do you have your father's birth certificate? It may be that he changed the spelling.

I agree with Jenna that Warrant is correct family. It often happens that names change down the years.

I think your name has changed to Warren. Its more common than you think. My gt grandfather after he married started using his grandfathers name. His grandparents never married. My gt grand then registered all his children with the new name including my grandmother.
Technically you could say gran had the wrong name but that was her given name Her 8 brothers and sisters all have the same surname

i know but it comes as a bit of a shock when its your own.blimey my dad will be shocked ,but like you say it has to be them. pam

well iv just spoken to my dad and he said when he was a child his dad used to do drawings and he looked at one and saw the word warrent on it, but because robert was in the army dad assumed it was something to do with a warrent officer. a big thank you and well done for all your persiverance i know i wouldnt have got there on my own. thanks again pam

very interesting! it will take some getting used to knowing all your ancesters had a slightly different name than you thought.

Just don't worry about it - remember what I said - 'You are who you are' !! - One letter in a name creates a little interest but no reason to feel insecure!!!

You will have to treasure those drawings of Robert as they are your other" proof"

nice thought but not possible,when my grandad died dads brother-in-law took them and non of his belongings have ever been found.thats why it was so hard.but you got there in the end.
