what do people think of 1911 census so far

Oh know, im wanting Yorkshire mainly

I wish it had NR Yorkshire and Durham.
I remember the 1901 census was late adding these 2 areas

It is nice to be able to search if you can afford it as it is quite expensive to use the credits for searching the 1911 census.
You can find out quite a bit of information without buying credits so it is very useful for that.

My hubbys family is from Durham so thats no help either.

Does anyone know if it is going to be on Ancestry

Iv found a few but am saving my credits for Durham and Northumberland,
I wonder why the folks who do all this census lark think that the most important counties are southern ones,,,We dont all have ancestors there do we?

So far l have found and downloaded hubby's dad at home with his parents in Salford. Manchester and my mum's mother at home with her mum in West Yorkshire
l know my dad was born 1910 Liverpool but cannot find him or his parents! l know his dad was still alive in 1918 and possibly up to 1950s lt's so frustrating.

lt is pretty expensive and l will only use it when l'm pretty sure l have the right ancestors
But l'm glad l have those above

I have managed to tie up quite a few things but I got through my credits really quickly. You can spend a fortune!

I'm finding it very expensive nearly gone through 280 credits already. A number of things have been mispelt and on one transcipt it had a 9year old as married!!!

I think they really rushed it through????????

To true about the southern counties, at least on the Family pilot search they have a great ammount of B T's for Northumberland & Durham so I'll stick to tying up all of those loose ends ready for when coverage on the 1911 census is up & running - Cheshire has also had a lot of BT's done as well but hardly any for the southern region so I don't suppose everyone can be pleased!

Pam, have you tried looking up the Local trade directories of the time for liverpool. It may give an address where they were living at the time.

I'm happy with it......it has Lancs, Glos and Notts, my main areas of interest.

Fascinating, though, to find out that people were not as much in awe of 'authority' as one might have thought. Two of the records I have accessed show the head to be fibbing about how long he and his wife have been married, in spite of having signed the declaration that the info is accurate................

We don't currently have plans to purchase the 1911 census early. We are currently focusing on sourcing historical records that go further back in history and will soon be launching the London Metropolitan Archives collection, which includes pre-1837 parish registers.

Well that would suit me down to the ground!!

My great grandfather also claims to have been married 44years, eldest daughter still single is living at home age 42, they in fact didn`t marry until 1875, ....... 6 years AFTER the birth of eldest daughter, was also handy for me as I found they had 3 other children, I didn`t know about who had died, and my grandmother and her husband and children were living with them as well, so got 2 families for the price of 1.

All in all i`m very pleased....

Well - as I have a subscription for Ancestry.co.uk I'm a bit miffed that the credits are so expensive. It works out that a view of original is over £3. This is ridiculous, hoping the library may have it on disc or microfilm soon. I don't think there will be many free lookups offered!!! Found my dad on there, just need to get proper image.Happy searching everyone.

Oh Alice in Wonderland - what you found would have driven me mad, how frustrating.

Have had great fun on 1911 in Dec and again today.Found all of the people i wanted to find and today found 1 of my Sussex ancestors-my GG Grandfather visiting a therapeutic spa called Smedley's in Derbyshire.He was the final piece of the puzzle on that side.

I do think its very expensive and wish there was a 30 day subscription of a set price.Ancestry aren't silly they know people are going to find children on the 1911 and their 1901 will be needed to be viewed!It was very slow on Ancestry tonight and i had quite a few technical problems also.

I have been looked for my great grandmother's birth of place that I want to buy her birth certificate because she was a foster in 1890s. 1891 and 1901 censuses, her birth of place was Lambeth and Woolwich.

So I was glad to find her 1911 census. However, she put it "not know" in her birth of place :-( I can't wait for 2021 to get 1921 census!
