Not sure if I have a connection to your Greenwood family but I see that, of the two witnesses you mentioned on a marriage certificate, one of then Epthraim Smith is also on a Certificate for a marriage I Have between a William Holmes(also your witness),(living in Halifax at the time) and Elizabeth Greenwood (Living in Bradford) married 1852 Bradford, Yorkshire.
Elizabeth was b abt. 1834.Father Daniel
William b abt.1826.Father William

I have trawled for hours looking for the Eastwoods and Greenwoods but cannot seem to get anywhere - both very common names though.

I just tried searching for Mildred street Bradford 1861 and came up with nothing

I just searched freebmd for Eastwood all types 1837-1871 and Bradford and came up with no matches at all

Yes, that is correct and I am pretty sure that it is them in Mildred Street. I am presuming that Margaret Ann Holmes is Mary's sister so that could well be her birth 9b/46 and I will send for the certificate.
I can find them in the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 but nothing in the 1911 census. There is nothing concrete prior to that so I was thinking that if I could get a marriage then that would be something to go on.

You are looking for Mary Holmes c1840 Thornton Bradford
first married ? Eastwood around 1855-60
then married John Greenwood around 1860 born 1832 Bradford.
John and Mary have son Herbert 1866
I am getting a little confused by the order of things here.

Yes, that's true but I have followed the Calverley Greenwoods and cannot find a Herbert.
Greenwood is such a common name in that area which makes it more difficult.
I believe there is a sister Annie but I dont think she was born until 1874.
