I was new too once - not too long ago.

Elizabeth Oliver born 1856 Jun Q carlisle (Maryport)

Think I have found them in 1881 census in Beith Ayrshire in Scotland
Thomas Brown 24 French Polisher b 1857 Edinburgh
Elizabeth Brown 24 b England
Joseph Brown 1 b England
They are boarding with a Robert and Isabella Smith

Thomas Brown died 1900 Dec Q Carlisle

1891 St Cuthbert Without Carlisle
Thomas Brown 37 French Polisher b Scotland
Mary Ann 36 wife b Birkenhead
Joseph Brown 11 b carlisle
Joseph Robinson 33 boarder b Birkenhead (probavly brother to Mary Ann)

hi gillian you have been busy thank you so much.It looks like from this that Thomas remarried and it also looks like he returned to carlisle.I wonder if there were anymore children.I can't remember my mum ever talking about her gran or grandad or any uncles or aunts.Once again thanks for your help
