This is probably really daft but today I have been to the grave yard. Found the gran & grandad (grandad born 1920, all ties up)and in the same grave is another chap. Now this chap was born in 1906 making him 14 when the grandad born. Do you think this would be the brother or did cousins get buried in the same plot? Now there is also a grave a few away with the same surname. I have been told they were all buried there. I looked at 1911 census but being a dim wit used some credits to look for some one else and now only have 6 left and not 10 so cant look. So just wanted to know in peoples past experience was it cousins that would have been buried in the same grave? sorry if this sounds a bit daft

would think it more likely to be brother than cousin but not impossible if the family were 'close' ...I have some credits left if you would like me to look at 1911?

Ricochet Report 18 Apr 2009 16:20

You can find people in 1911 without using credits.............

What is the name of the child born 1906?

Where was he born?

Who were the parents of the one whose brother you think he is?

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 16:48

Here goes

In grave 1 is Margaret Elsie May Rich (nee Hale) died 29 Nov 2004 aged 81
Her husband William John Rich died 1 Oct 1985 aged 65
And then a Cecil Charles Rich died 11 Nov 1951 aged 45

In grave 2 is Thomas W E Rich 17 Feb 1958 aged 84
Wife Emma 5 Jul 1959 aged 85
Son Albert E Rich 1 Aug 1987 aged 85
Their daughter Gladys May Sims 1 Aug 1999 aged 89

What I thought was if I could fnd Cecil Charles Rich born 1906 in the 1911 census and Thomas & Emma were his parents it was more or less confirmed

Thanks all, I could kick myself over the credits!

Thats what I am trying to work out. if Cecil is with Thomas & Emma its a good lead

I started my step brothers tree for him and found his step sister for him yesterday. I checked the births as I could recall her name (luckily she not married) and then tried a social website and bingo it was her! I was so chuffed for them and they are meeting next week. Both nearly 40 and none of us have a clue about the family. It was lucky I remembered nan & grandads names etc
Sorry just had to share that news! lol

Marcelle

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 17:08

How did you do that? When I tried it just bought up Cecil on his own! If I would have known then I would have done it myself!

Thanks to those who replied very much appreciated

Ricochet Report 18 Apr 2009 17:13

I searched using Emma's name..........just as well, as Cecil was mis-spelt!

Marcelle

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 17:15

Its really frustrating...dont know what I am doing wrong?

K Report 18 Apr 2009 17:53

Look for Emma Rich first in Long Ashton. Then having confirmed she is in the right area do an advanced search with Rich as the surname - Long Ashton as the District and put Emma Rich in the box at the bottom for other people at the address.

It works best for villages or more unsual names

Hi Marcelle, I'm no expert but I've found if you put the person's name and year of birth and residential place down in the boxes then click on search, it will bring up a list of households. If there is someone who matches your criteria then well and good.
Click on Search Again and now take away the first name and year of birth from the personal details, just leaving the Last name. Keep the Residential Place and in the Other Members of the Household put the person whom you have already found in the First and Last name boxes. In your case, Emma Rich. Then click on Search and you should have all households in that area with an Emma Rich in them.
Obviously the more obscure a name, the better. It doesn't work for common names as you will end up with too many households with that name in them
Hope this helps a bit.

Liz

Sorry K. I see you were quicker than me! Not too difficult lol!

Marcelle Report 18 Apr 2009 18:11

I have given it a go but I got other Rich's in the household. Does this mean that these are relatives or different houses? It has more pople than Richochet got
